I’ll take a stab at it. Halliburton is considered to be “Big Oil” (though it is not), and Cheney was CEO. Then came Cheney’s energy task force and it’s alleged “secretiveness,” which fit into the whole “Cheney is the secret puppetmaster” meme.

You should've asked him to tell you exactly why he considers Halliburton/Cheney to be evil incarnate. You probably would've received a blank stare followed by a bunch of stuttering.

Probably because Haliburton and Cheney have money that the Socialist DemocRATs thinks belongs to them.

My son works for Halliburton on the North Slope. They have been extremely supportive of him and his talents, and recently “kicked him upstairs” and gave him a sizeable pay raise. We, obviously, think Halliburton is a rather exceptional American company. As for Dick Cheney, I think Lynne Cheney is the LUCKIEST woman in the world. Mmmmm...!

While we are on the subject I think Dick Cheny is the most qualified person to be the next President of the United States.

The short answer is that it’s not worth your time thinking about, unless/until they can articulate what exactly their point is. Most people who say stuff about “Halliburton”, “Cheney”, etc. (along with, while we’re at it, “Patriot Act”, “Abu Ghraib”...) have no real idea what they’re talking about. These are buzzwords that short-circuit the thought process. Endeavor to make the people addicted to these buzzwords use their brains for a change.

Because Haliburton had an exclusive contract with the Pentagon to provide support services for war zone operations support, making them "the company who makes profits from war". Dick Cheney took over Haliburton after his tenure as Secritary of Defence, which gave the impression that he A) provided them with "under the table influence" and B) is "the man who makes profits from war.

He and Haliburton are easy targets for Liberals looking for easy targets... it's that simple

Lacking in critical thinking skills, liberals need symbolic targets with short, easy to remember names on which to project their hatred.

Once these names become so stigmatized, liberals need no longer argue the issues they represent, the mention of the name itself becomes an ad hominem.

Saves the liberal user the effort of actually having to articulate their position, if indeed they have any idea what their positions are.

I don’t want to get into American politics, but Halliburton was penalized for serious tax fraud (in Nigeria of all places!) when Dick Cheney was CEO.

Libs get very aggravated when anyone makes money. Being that Cheney was connected with Halliburton it’s another fantasy tale for them to weave, fitting right in with Bush/Cheney starting the war to steal the oil. This way they dream that Cheney started the war to make a profit through Halliburton.

You’re going to hear the words “no bid contract”. Explain to him that Haliburton had a no bid under Clinton.

Then he’ll start on the fraud stuff (if he has half a clue, but he may not). Ask him how Bush and Cheny were involved, and how Clinton was envolved in Enron?

He should shit himself, and pass out.

One reason: it is the theme some Dems/Libs developed long ago because they could tie the administration to “war profiteers” as Haliburton provides some services of the sort needed in military engagements.

If you investigate Haliburton you might find that one of its corporate predecessors was Brown & Root, which I believe was an industrial concern around in WWII and made submarines, among other “really bad” things.

Lyndon and Lady Bird Johnson became B&R shareholders. LBJ was not shy. I believe that Lady Bird Johnson, before she died, was one of the major shareholders of Haliburton.

Dick Cheney was her president, or was he a VP at Haliburton too? Not sure on that.

Dig a little and you can show them facts that throw water on their lunacy.
