My boy can hold his own.

For at least some time.

He’s only gone #1 or #2 about 16 yesterday, so all this is a bit overblown regarding the need for diapers.

See, boys are prone to overblowing diapers from the front end, the rear end, either end, or both ends. At the same time.

Caution is urged under all circumsinces and circumstances.

Your assumption that he can hold it is (possibily) not warranted - unless, of course, you can be absolutely, positively, 100% certain you are NOT the one that will be attempting to stem the tide while changing the circumstances of the overblown diaper.

As the mother of five sons, I could say a number of things about their digestive habits. However, in the interests of good taste, I’ll just observe that one of the nice things about keeping a snake is that she only “goes” once a week.
