My Dragonfly And Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Dragonflies

Little wonder the dragonfly,
Seems but a naught to catch the eye,
For every Summer that goes by,
With dragons in such short supply.

When dragons roared and snapped their teeth,
The 'flies would scuttle underneath,
To bite them, and the world bequeath,
A peaceful world of glade and heath,

Where dragons do no longer dwell,
Perhaps they've been outsourced to Hell,
The glade now rings to tinkling bell,
Of cattle that are raised to sell,

In markets, where a crafting hand,
Displays a dragon that once stalked the land,
In search of castles so futilely manned,
One thought that dragons were what God had planned.

And yet we live and prosper now,
With dragons caged in dreams somehow,
Give thanks while munching on your cow,
That dragonflies can take the bow.

"You mean like one of those Russian cossack dancers with great knees or a kangaroo?"

Actually my point was that I don't think I've ever seen a graceful dismount from a surfboard. Just wait til it becomes an Olympic event.

"I'd give him a ten, but he didn't have the required look of surprise on his face."

Isn’t that how it usually goes? Carry your camera everywhere and the one moment you don’t is when the million dollar shot shows up!

He must have had fabulous knees because it was mine that stopped me from doing that.

Where’d he get those knees?

The Dragon

  Grace, Power, Beauty.
All are encompassed in this magnificent creature.
Gliding high overhead,
He dances upon the thermals above, surveying all below.
With unimagined speed he dives,
Filling with terror the hearts of those below.
Racing above the treetops,
He bears down on his target.
With one sweep of his mighty wings,
The village is leveled,
Nothing left but memories.
Returning to his lair,
He is content in the knowledge that he rules all that he surveys,
Crouched upon the ledge,
He spreads his wings,
And with a mighty roar,
Leaps into the sky.
The Dragon flies again,
And He is Me.

Remember this?

Dragon!

To hold in my hand a dragon,
Yes, that would be my desire.
Although I'm not a smoker,
I would have that convenient fire.

Of course, you know I'm jesting,
A dragon for me would be great!
But the tiny one I could hold in my hand,
Is not where I'd concentrate.

I don't need a pet to care for,
But a partner to help me produce,
A means to travel that fires the mind,
And problems to ashes reduce!

You have a point there.

How would Olympics judges describe the dismount and what would dismount requirements be?

If you had a tiny one, what would you name it?

I'd call mine Mini-Me.

"If you had a tiny one, what would you name it?"

Hey! That's kinda pers ... Oh, you're talking about dragons.

I'd call it Cinderella, in hopes that one day, someone would say, "Cinderella! Cinderella my butt!"

After which, of course, I would supply the burn ointment.

I want one of those little dragons!

It could pull my wagon
I’d paint the wagon red
have him seal the lead
proudly hold my head
high - as he pulled
me around the town

in my gossamer gown
all necks would turn
to see this spectacle
in route, cotton candy
they would sell - as my
dragon, wagon, was propelled

by a wee little dragon
snorting fire each day
and all he wanted for happiness
was to pull me and that dragon, wagon each day.

Dragons mean adventure!

Dragon Babies

When I was a little child,
I had many friends.
Cowboys, cops, fairies, figments
And fire breathing dragons!

Dragon Lady came to me
One early summer morn
With news that we'd been waiting for;
Her babies had been born!

She let me check her babies,
They were the cutest little things.
Years later, we are all grownups
Conquering reality and kings!
