Oh, Nan.....what did I do wrong??? My Cool Whip melted on top! I put the pie in the refrigerator immediately after spreading on the Cool Whip, but it turned into the consistency of soup and ran off the top. It was a MESS! JK said he didn't care if he had to drink it with a straw....LOL. It actually tastes really good, it just looks a mess. Not at all pretty like yours.

I have never liked using Cool Whip in a recipe, it never does what I want it to do. Next time I will use whipped cream and just forget the Cool Whip. But, the pie tastes great. I am just glad I didn't make it for company. It didn't even turn out looking like a pie. LOL.

Oh no! You did use the instant Jello pudding mix, right? No heat involved? I can’t imagine why the cool whip would melt. I’ve never had that happen. Next time try cooling the pie before putting the cool whip on it. I’ve used cool whip a gazillion times and never has it liquified. LOL, you sound like me. I have the hardest time following a recipe. I always announce my “qualifier”. “I con’t cook.” That way if it fails, my face is saved, and if it turns out I look like a genius. All of my successful attempts have been very easy recipes that look and taste great. One I have used a lot is the angelfood cake split and layered with cherry pie filling and iced with cool whip. It looks wonderful and tastes great, and company goes ooooo and ahhhhh and I pat a little flour on my face and say, “It was nothing, really.”
