The blame falls directly on Goodyear for the poor race, Firestone must be laughing their butts off at them falling flat on their face.
What a lousy race, especially at IMS.

Some Nascar talking heads have tried to push some of the blame on to the Speedway. One said that IMS should have put a sealant on the track. The feller was an obvious dope.

It was like endless heat races followed by a poor trophy dash. Didn’t any of the tire guys remember what happened to the F1 guys one year when they skipped Indy testing??

This is the 2nd time there have been tire problems at IMS. Remember the F-1 debacle when most teams could not compete due to the Michelin (?) tires blowing out on the oval part of the race.

I think it's VERY likely that you will see public pressure for Goodyear to offer a 50% discount on tickets for the 2009 Brickyard 400 after the fiasco of this year's race. I expect Goodyear to drastically increase its tire testing, including a lot more summer testing at any longer distance racetrack (Indianapolis, Pocono, and Michigan especially).

I have almost completely lost interest in NASCAR anymore. I used to watch it alot but what can I say...the joy is gone as BB King would say.
