At 15, Lawrence King was small5 feet 1 inchbut very hard to miss. In January, he started to show up for class at Oxnard, Calif.'s E. O. Green Junior High School decked out in women's accessories. On some days, he would slick up his curly hair in a Prince-like bouffant. Sometimes he'd paint his fingernails hot pink and dab glitter or white foundation on his cheeks. "He wore makeup better than I did," says Marissa Moreno, 13, one of his classmates. He bought a pair of stilettos at Target, and he couldn't have been prouder if he had on a varsity football jersey. He thought nothing of chasing the boys around the school in them, teetering as he ran.
But on the morning of Feb. 12, Larry left his glitter and his heels at home. He came to school dressed like any other boy: tennis shoes, baggy pants, a loose sweater over a collared shirt. He seemed unhappy about something. He hadn't slept much the night before, and he told one school employee that he threw up his breakfast that morning, which he sometimes did because he obsessed over his weight. But this was different. One student noticed that as Larry walked across the quad, he kept looking back nervously over his shoulder before he slipped into his first-period English class. The teacher, Dawn Boldrin, told the students to collect their belongings, and then marched them to a nearby computer lab, so they could type out their papers on World War II. Larry found a seat in the middle of the room. Behind him, Brandon McInerney pulled up a chair.

Sometimes a tragedy is just that.
A tragic life.
A tragic death.
Nothing more.
I dont think that it was the lifestyle, I think it was the harrassment.
I agree. If the powers that be want to protect young homosexuals they will need to teach the adolescents not to hit on hetrosexual males. Just like we teach girls not to be sexually open to dangerous and deviant males.
gonna have to major league disagree with you on this point. Larry, the gay kid, put a bullet in no one's head. Brandon did, which demonstrates exactly how screwed up he was. Putting a bullet in another's head is in now way warranted or justified by what went on here.
I agree, too. If he was a straight guy who was harassing a girl, I don’t think the girl would have got into as much trouble for shooting him (however, if it was a girl harassing a guy who ended up shooting her, the guy would have still got in a lot of trouble, cause we’ve got double standards all around). I think that kids should just be taught ‘this is sexual harassment, it’s not acceptable, regardless of gender or orientation’ straight up, maybe in 4th or 5th grade, so when puberty kicks in, they know some boundaries.
And I don’t think it’s them hitting on straight guys that’s a problem, but repeatedly hitting on someone who’s not interested - gay guys generally have pretty good gaydar, but they even make mistakes sometimes, or the person in question hasn’t come out yet. For example, if another girl hit on me, my answer would be “No thanks, I’m straight”. One time to find out if the other party is or isn’t interested is OK, anything beyond that is uncalled for.
Lawrence King is 180 degrees from my friends. They are dressed at school the way I am - CONSERVATIVLY - Jeans, polo shirts, sneakers - not the way Lawrence King dresses.
Brandon McInerney is a HOMOPHOBE. People like that need to be tolerent of others. Yes, my friends and I are conservatives - and I would love to tell Brandon the HOMOPHOBE what I think of him - AND PEOPLE LIKE HIM!!!
No but it can be explained.
He ended up in a place for troubled teens, and sexually harassing them with the most disgusting behavior can easily push them over the edge. It's not the first time a freak pushed someone over the edge with their sexual predation.
Teachers should have seen it coming... but if they couldn't stop the kid from poking holes in his room with a screwdriver, they probably couldn't stop him from grabbing butts and crotches either.
“....a HOMOPHOBIC JERK”!
Have you been indoctrinated by the Publik Skools?
if someone does not believe that science shows that gays are born gay, do you think that person is homophobic? i'm just asking because i do know some who think if you do not believe what they do, then you must be homophobic... thank you...
Lets redefine contributing to the delinquency of a minor, shall we?
Why? Some boys might like dressing up as girls - some girls can wear jeans instead of dresses so that is ok. Why have a DOUBLE STANDARD?
Larry King DID NOT NEED TO BE MURDERED!!
You are so melodramatic! How old are you?
Give the kid a break, he sounds like he's about 11 and a half.
I’m 13 and a half. Now, what does that matter? I do have a few gay friends - and I support them. I know you people are HAPPY that Brandon killed Larry, but I am not.
I completely agree. It seems that the Epstein woman was more interested in pushing the homosexual agenda than she was in protecting and defending the stuydents best interests.
What in the world would make a sensible, educated adult think that it's alright for an eigth grader to come to school dressed in drag? to allow him to harrass other boys. They had to know that this kid's aggressive deviancy would lead to trouble. Were they looking for a martyr???
