Urgent prayer request

Dearest Prayer Warriors:

It’s been a long time since I have posted here on Freerepublic, but I remember how much you had helped me out with the prayers I had requested for my older sister Sherryl, and she is doing well. Now here I am again asking for your help.

My younger sister “Lori” needs all the prayers that anyone can spare. She was admitted to the hospital ( Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles, Ca) a little over a week ago with a kidney infection, which turned into Gram Negative Sepsis with E-Coli, and developed Adult Respiratory Arrest Syndrome. That in it’s self was bad enough, but then on July 12th when they took her off the sedation medication, and she was not responding they sent her for a CAT scan and found that she had had 2 major strokes that affected both sides of her brain. The back of her brain was the part affected and there is still activity in the front of the brain. The doctors told me that if she survives this that she will most likely be paralyzed on both sides of her body with little or no sight.

I am in such a state of shock, and just numb, but cannot and refuse to accept that this is happening to my sister. I am in North Carolina, and being so far away from her makes it even worse, the doctors have told me that even if I were there, there is nothing I could do. Her children and hubby are with her and we are in constant contact. Please pray for Lori, the last I heard tonight was that her vital signs are stable and she responded a bit to stimulation by the nurses and moved her right side.

I have not given up hope or faith... I want her to come home and be whole again. I have called so many prayer lines asking for help because I know the power of prayer. If you know of any prayer line that is international, please let me know. I will forever remember the prayers you sent for “Sherryl” and the power those prayers had, will you please do the same for “Lori”? God Bless you and Thank you for listening to me. Her name is Lori Bruno and she is at Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles..ICU.

UPDATE

Dearest Pegita,
Thank you so much for letting all the Prayer Warriors know what's going on with my sister Lori. I have been waiting all day for an update and just got off the phone with her oldest son “ Freddie “... He said that there has not been much of a change, BUT she does respond to pin pricks and pinches (which tells me that she has feelings in her limbs and is not brain dead).. her oxygen level is down to 35% compared to 100% she has been on for the last week, and she is breathing a little on her own, her temp is down to 99.7. I told my nephew not to let the doctors discourage him as they have approached him about making arrangements to take her off the ventilator and feeding tube. He said he told the doctors that there is no way they are taking her off of anything, and that we just know that she is going to come out of this. The fact that she is responding to anything at this point is testimony that the prayers are at work and God hears them all. So, please keep the prayers going Lori’s way for a full recovery. I don't know how to respond to each wonderful prayer and email that is being sent, is there a way to let everyone know how she is doing at the same time? instead of trying to answer each one separately? I want to Thank each and everyone of you for your support and prayers, they mean so much. I will keep all of you updated as I hear the news, it’s hard because of the time change as I am 3 hrs ahead of Calif, and waiting for news is so difficult.

Urgent prayer request

The latest update I have at this moment, since I spoke with Jon last night, is that Lori has beat the Sepsis! The infection is gone! I am waiting to hear more as it is still early in Calif.. but I am so amazed at the healing that has taken place in such a short period of time, the power of Prayer is amazing. Thank You all so much, please keep the prayers going up for Lori as she not out of the woods yet, but everything looks better with each passing moment. I will update later tonight after Jon calls me and will let everyone know what's going on. They still don't know how much damage was done due to the strokes, so I am praying that she retains her eyesight.

Exciting update from snykerz ...

Another update on my sister Lori ! Good News!

I have good news on my sister Lori! I had called the hospital and talked with Lori’s nurse (Tressa) and she said Lori was having a very good day, she will open her eyes and try to track you, she will squeeze your hand on command, and is now only on a vent collar, but she is breathing on her own! She is also no longer in Critical Condition and they will be moving her to the 5th floor sometime today!

Then I spoke with Jon, and he told me that she smiles now when he talks with her and she keeps trying to pull at the blankets on her bed, LOL... Praise be to God! This is the best news I have heard yet!

When I sent the first update I had yesterday, it was only by a message that Jon had left on my machine... that the surgery went beautifully and she was ok, so I assumed that nothing much had changed, until I actually spoke to him later, and thats when he told me that 5 mins before going into have the surgery that she “WOKE UP” and knew what was going on. I’m sorry if I confused everyone with that post, but I was going on what I heard on my answering machine, I should have waited until after I spoke with Jon to know exactly what had happened.

Anyway, this is just the Miracle we have been asking for...The Gangrene is still there, it’s dry and not moving, so thats good news also. So lets storm the heavens and ask for circulation to her fingertips and toe tips in Jesus name and see if we cant astonish the doctors with the power of Prayer. Thank you for the beautiful prayers for “Our Lori” I am always moved to tears as I read them. Please post this update for me as I think I am putting it in the wrong place. Update on Lori ... august 12 2008

I have more uplifting news! I spoke with Jon last night and he said that Lori is much more aware of things around her than the day before and she follows him around the room with her eyes.... when he asked her if he should go get “Julie” (Lori’s daughter) her eyes got really big and she tried to mouth some words to him, so she certainly can understand whats going on and what people are saying to her! Praise God! They are giving her really good care and with Gods Grace she will be fine, but it’s gonna be a long haul for her.

Keep the prayers coming her way as I know for a fact that they are working. God Bless each and everyone of you. Will keep you updated as more good news comes my way.

Update on Lori ... august 12 2008

Immediate Prayers needed right now for Lori !!!!

I am in a hurry to get this out there.. I just spoke with Jon on the phone and the doctors had done an Ultrasound of Lori’s legs and arms and found out that she has 2 blood clots in her right leg, right at or above the knee, so they are going to do an Angiogram(sp)tonight to find out exactly what they need to do, the docs are afraid if one of them moves it will go to her lungs and the other will move to her lower leg, and then they may need to amputate (Dear God NO!) So, please, please, lets storm the heavens right now everyone, I am so scared for my baby sister. Just when things were starting to look up a bit, I get this info and I feel sick. I wish I were there with her. Please everyone Pray your hearts out for her. Jon will call me later after they do the Angiogram (sp) and I will let you know the results if the docs get them tonight. Thank you all for helping me get throught this, I am a mess right now.
