Garlic Season is coming right up! Get your orders in here:

(Shameless Plug For My Company):

(Shameless Plug for my previous Employer):

If you’re smart, you’ll buy a HARDNECK variety. German Extra Hardy is my favorite. HUGE bulbs/cloves, plus, they put out ‘scapes’ which you can cut off in mid-summer and use in summer cooking.

And then, of course, you’ll want to make these recipes as well:

I thought it was a great article and I also was unaware of the stuff about the China imported garlic. I’ve known about the quantities of it being imported from there and watch labels like a hawk, but each new bit of info helps.

I need to make garlic jelly as well, I’m totally out and I love the stuff, plus I promised some to a FReeper FRiend! It’s just been too hot with no A/C in the kitchen :(

MY condolences! I I can’t believe how much time I wasted on that crappy 101 commute. Of course, it was worse on “Blood Alley”! That was horrible. When the extension opened up, it was like heaven!

You find yourself NOT wanting to believe it, but if it’s a hoax, it’s so incredibly performed that no one can figure it out.

It's pretty easy to figure out, but it is a blast of optical illusions. You just have to not trust your eyes because everything is at an angle.

I grow 4 hard neck varieties along with 3 varieties of soft neck. I grow German Red, Music, Spanish Roja and a new one from Vietnam which is only 1” in diameter and is hot hot hot but a pain in the butt to separate for seed. The soft necks are Inchellium,Susanville and Early California

Thanks for the ping.

I had no idea we got most of our garlic from China. Sigh. How much longer until we find out they’ve been poisoning the garlic?

You’re right - it’s definitely too hot to do much cooking right now!

BTW - my cast came off last Wednesday and I am painting again! I am very happy to be getting back to normal.

The Santa Claus place has been gone for a lot of years. It’s some research complex now. I think I went there many, many years ago.

Hmmmm.......that’s what I used to believe, but I’m very much believing that “something” odd is going on there. I’ve read lots of “disclaimers” about it. If you have any definitive explanations I’d love to hear them.

OH, I’m SOOOOOO SO happy about the cast coming off!

When I get to making the jelly you can be rest assured no ingredients will be coming from china.

I pride myself, and market, my products as either local grown or at least US grown ingredients. It’s kind of hard to grow lemons and oranges in Virginia :)

Again, I’m THRILLED you are getting back to normal. That is GREAT!
