Being half Japanese, I would have to say: Rashomon. Other foreign films that are excellent to see: Ridicule and Remains Of The Day./Just Asking - seoul62.......
You must be kidding.
Rio Grande- the best of the cavalry trilogy and perhaps the best Wayne/Ford western collaboration ever. Maureen O’Hara, the Sons of the Pioneers, Claude Jarman, Ben Johnson, Harry Carey Jr.,etc.
Return to Gilligan’s Island (\sarc)
Another honorable mention: Red Violin./Just Asking - seoul62.......
Romeo & Juliet OK, but the Zeffirelli version with Olivia Hussey. Yum.
Rain Man
Why are you posting this as if it’s not your humble opinion?
Half the movies you list are mediocre at best.
Why did you not list e.g. Raging Bull, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Rainman just to name three off the top of my head..
Remains of the Day????
CHICK FLICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Roman Holiday
There's a good debate on IMDB forums if you want to check it out in which is better, Seven Samurai or Rashomon.
But... Doesn't that have sidal nudity in it??
Richard III (Olivier)
Rosemarys Baby
Raging Bull
You sound just like my husband, he dislikes foreign, arty, period pieces, states they bore him to pieces. I once dragged him to see the movie: Emma and he disliked it. Say what you want about: Remains Of The Day, but the movie was an excellent character study of two people who cared for each other passionetly but never touched. I like these films, chick flick and all, what did you expect me to say: Remo Williams, was a masterpiece?/Just Asking - seoul62......
Thanks for including Ran!
I’ll recommend Rashomon, Raise the Red Lantern, and Red Beard.
