Some of you may have seen this but its so touching, I wanted to post it!
CHOCOLATE SINGS
One day I had a date for lunch with friends. Mae, a little old ‘blue hair’
about 80 years old, came along with them-—all in all, a pleasant bunch.
When the menus were presented, we ordered salads, sandwiches, and soups,
except for Mae who said, ‘Ice Cream, please. Two scoops, chocolate.’
I wasn’t sure my ears heard right, and the others were aghast.
‘Along with heated apple pie,’ Mae added, completely unabashed.
We tried to act quite nonchalant, as if people did this all the time.
But when our orders were brought out, I didn’t enjoy mine.
I couldn’t take my eyes off Mae as her pie a-la-mode went down.
The other ladies showed dismay. They ate their lunches silently and frowned.
The next time I went out to eat, I called and invited Mae.
I lunched on white meat tuna. She ordered a parfait.
I smiled. She asked if she amused me.
I answered, ‘Yes, you do, but also you confuse me.
How come you order rich desserts, while I feel I must be sensible?
She laughed and said, with wanton mirth, ‘I’m tasting all that’s Possible.
I try to eat the food I need, and do the things I should.
But life’s so short, my friend, I hate missing out on something good.
This year I realized how old I was. (She grinned) I haven’t been this old
before.’
‘So, before I die, I’ve got to try those things that for years I had
ignored.
I haven’t smelled all the flowers yet. There are too many books I haven’t
read. There’s more fudge sundaes to wolf down and kites to be flown
overhead.
With that, I called the waitress over.. ‘I’ve changed my mind,’ I said. ‘I
want what she is having, only add some more whipped cream!’
This is my gift to you - We need an annual Friends Day! If you get this
twice, then you have more than one friend. Live well, love much & laugh
often - Be happy.
Be mindful that happiness isn’t based on possessions, power, or prestige,
but on relationships with people we love and respect. Remember that while
money talks,
CHOCOLATE SINGS!
Watch it buster! LOL!
That is wonderful, Jaycee.
Thank you for sharing it with us.
According to the Native American Calendar, August 3rd is Friendship Day. I haven’t looked at any of the other Holiday sources for August.
You are most welcome!
Those letters touched my heart, Amy. Just as the letters to home today, would touch my heart. Bless our soldiers - all of them - from every branch of the service.
Thank you. I found that graphic a couple of weeks ago and have been saving it for the perfect time to use it.
: )
These letters reminds us that these were real people; not just names or statistics in a history book.
God bless our military, past, present and future.
I just now had time to read those letters and they were so wonderful and touching. Letter writing is a lost art in these days. I have all the letters to my husband and from my husband while he was in the Navy. They are tied up with ribbons and I wonder what to do with them sometimes.
Someday your kids will enjoy reading them.
I have wondered the same thing, JC. My (late) husband was the first casualty of WWII. He was injured in the South Pacific, at Makin Island. He was awarded the Navy Cross, which was presented to him by Elenore Roosevelt, along with two purple hearts.
He was hospitalized for a year, due to injuries that he sustained, as the Marines took the island. It was a miracle he survived.
I have two trunks full of memorabilia - and a large box full of medals he was awarded while in the USMC. Letters, cards, awards, certificates, uniforms - I don’t know what to do with it all - but can’t bring myself to just throw it out.
(((((((Hugs)))))))
All those things are very important to you and to me, however, no one else could appreciate them as much. Those decisions are hard, especially medals, purple hearts, etc. Very important!
If you have kids, they would want them but if you don’t, I believe I would contact the closest Memorial museum or something like that and they might add to their displays. Please check Fr.mail for the rest of this story..!

Good hearing from you...such a sweet, lovely graphic this morning. Take care! I have lots to do today. Yesterday was not so good.
When I heard about the service agency called Love, INC, I assumed that meant Love, Incorporated. But it actually means LoveIn the Name of Christ. The organizations goal is to mobilize churches to reach out to a hurting and needy world in the name of Christ.
Throughout history, people have said theyre acting in Jesus name, when in reality it was for their own advantage. During World War II, the horrors of the Holocaust were sometimes rationalized by those who labeled the Jews Christ-killers. Today racist groups dare to use Christian in their name or literature while using violence and hatred to intimidate people.
The Word of God is so saturated with the word love that its hard to imagine how anyone could justify doing hateful acts in the name of Christ. Love is at the core of the gospel: Jesus sacrifice on the cross was motivated by Gods love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him (1 John 4:9).
As grateful followers of Jesus, we are told to do all in the name of the Lord Jesus (Col. 3:17). When we represent Him to other people in word and deed, they should see love, in the name of Christ.
