Thank you Amy. Tain’t much of a yard, but it’s like a trailer, you have to be more precise in keeping it tidy.

Ah shucks. We had known each other for years. Remember? We went through the clinton wars together. It was very easy to love you.

Thank you Kitty. I worked hard this spring, trying to get my little yard looking good. Took out the big overgrown hedges and put in new ones. That made a big difference and gave me another two feet of yard. LOL.

Thank you.

We went to Black Angus and then stopped at Baskin Robbins on the way home and bought an ice cream cake.

Tomorrow is Ice Cream Day ... we have plenty left for then. LOL

I usually use Advil but I think Aleve is stronger.

Thanks, Kitty Mittens.

On the hottest days, I try to stay inside except early in the morning or late afternoons. The heat just exhausts me.

Good evening, PGalt. Great to see you tonight.

Since I opened Amy’s Place, I have read more poetry than I did in my first 100 years.

I’ve learned to appreciate some that I paid no attention to before.

Sounds wonderful, ‘Black Angus’! They used to have a steak house named Black Angus in Myrtle Beach and they had great steaks.

Going to church and then to granddaughter’s birthday party, so I will be enjoying Ice Cream Day with cake. We will grill out hamburgers first. Sounds good to me!

JONAH’S LAMENT

I in my ribbed dungeon
Alone in the dark of hell
The dank of the sea
Pulling at my nostrils
Death awash about my feet
My soul is shun

Three days alas
In a dismal cell
While all abandoned me
Lord Lord, your absence
All but kills
Take away this doubt
That once again we’ll meet
Again we’re one

Tis from thy imminent
Grace I fell
Thrown to the raging sea
Inside this unknown beast
That wills Me glorify your name
On the Nineveh street
Your will be done

Expiration Date
In Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me. —Psalm 139:16

Chuck Montague was undergoing an extended series of treatments at a cancer center far from home. Then his treatments were abruptly interrupted by another medical condition. But God answered prayer and removed this problem. Later, when Chuck testified in his church back home, he told of his gratitude for the prayers of God’s people and the truths from His Word that had ministered to him and his wife, Janet.

At times Chuck had wondered whether or not he would survive. That thought drove him to the Scriptures, and he carefully read Psalm 139. His attention was drawn to verse 16, which says, “In Your book they were all written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them.” Before we were created, all of our days were “fashioned” by the Lord. “It lifted my spirit to know that my life is in God’s hands,” Chuck said. “Every jug of milk or can of tuna has an expiration date. Well, so have I. . . . God’s timing is best.”

As we suffer illness or grow older, we naturally think more about death. If we’re believers in Christ, we can be confident that death is an open door to eternal life with Jesus. With the psalmist David, we are comforted by the truth that the God who loves us knows our “expiration date.”

From Him, who loves me now so well,
What power my soul can sever?
Shall life or death, or earth or hell?
No—I am His forever. —Stebbins

God’s timing is perfect—even in death.

I have been having some back problems too. Was talking to Amy about it. The more time I spend on the computer, the worse my back hurts. My chair may not be at the right height...who knows?

Have a nice Sunday! I’m on my way to church and then to son’s for cookout and birthday party for Ashley! I am wearing khaki’s to church with white t-shirt and white blouse and comfy shoes! I hate to dress up in summer so casual is good.

Just beautiful, Amy. Love clemetis. I have a small one! Had a huge one and it lived quite a few years and died. I sometimes thought someone may have accidentally hit it with Roundup!
