My daughter works retail sales for Verizon Wireless. The debut of the iPhone was a minor one month glitch. As soon as people found out about the non replaceable batteries, that plus sticker shock, scared most people away from iPhones.

If iPhones were anything other than a boutique niche, competitors would be all over them already.

Um, no.

Royal Bank of Canada Capital Markets' Mike Abramsky recently returned from Apple Inc.'s (AAPL) headquarters in Cupertino, Calif. bearing good news. In a note to clients on Monday, he said his research on Apple's upcoming 3G and faster processor will unleash the iPhone's real potential.

The analyst raised his price target on Apple to $220 from $200, while maintaining an "outperform" call on the stock.

As to exactly when the iPhone will be available in Canada, Mr. Abramsky estimates it will arrive in the third quarter of this year. At 10% the size of the U.S. market, more than 300,000 iPhones could be sold in Canada later when they become available.

Why would anyone listen to some Canadian sock-puppet stock trader shill for Apple?
