Here is the famous "Kalinka" which I first heard in the Royal Albert Hall in 1952 sung by the Red Army Choir. The tenor then was much better than this one but this one is good.

I think, like most Europeans, they understand the perversity’s of religious structures over the ages. Very few people in Catholic Spain go to church except for Births, Marriages and Deaths. And those that do go over half won´t put anything in the collection plate.
When I first came to Spain I was amazed that the plate would be passed at a wedding and for the most part it would come back with one or two pesetas in it. But they do love all the religious holidays. :)
