The garden picture reminds me of something I saw at a friends house years ago. I can’t read that little sign in your picture but he had a nice garden/ park area at his house and in there was a really nice artistic wooden bench. It had a brass plaque on the seat back and when I went up close to read it, it said” Nothing of any importance has ever happened at this site”. It really cracked me up.
Yes, I have that one and guess who gave that one to me, too?! LOL (yep - wolfie) That’s my nagging bluebird. :)
Too funny! I tend to read signs that way, too! I have to bite my tongue every time I go to the post office now. They have recently installed signs that say “armed robbers will be prosecuted.” So does that mean if you’re unarmed, you DON’T get prosecuted?
My hubby doesn’t appreciate my sense of humor any more tahn yours does! LOL
Cape Cod—Vermont! It’s beautiful in pics—never been there.
Here are the words to the song (or a poem) in English:
Tr. Jacob Robbins, 1921
1. From beyond the wooded island
To the river wide and free,
|: Proudly sail the arrow-breasted
Ships of Cossack yeomanry. :|
2. On the first is Stenka Razin
With a princess at his side,
|: Drunken, holds a marriage revel
With his beautiful young bride. :|
3. But behind them rose a whisper,
“He has left his sword to woo;
|: One short night, and Stenka Razin
Has become a woman too!” :|
4. Stenka Razin hears the jeering
Of his discontented band,
|: And the lovely Persian princess
He has circled with his hand. :|
5. His black brows have come together
As the waves of anger rise,
|: And the blood comes rushing swiftly
To his piercing, jet-black eyes. :|
6. “I will give you all you ask for,
Life and heart, and head and hand,”
|: Echo rolls the pealing thunder
Of his voice across the land. :|
7. “Volga, Volga, mother Volga,
Deep and wide beneath the sun,
|: You have never seen a present
From the Cossack of the Don. :|
8. And that peace might rule as always
All my free-born men and brave,
|: Volga, Volga, mother Volga,
Volga, make this girl a grave.” :|
9. With a sudden, mighty movement,
Razin lifts the beauty high,
|: And he casts her where the waters
Of the Volga move and sigh. :|
10. Now a silence like the grave sinks
To all those who stand to see,
|: And the battle-hardened Cossacks
Sink to weep on bended knee. :|
11. “Dance, you fool, and men, make merry!
What has got into your eyes?
|: Let us thunder out a chanty
Of a place where beauty lies.” :|
12. From beyond the wooded island
To the river wide and free,
|: Proudly sail the arrow-breasted
Ships of Cossack yeomanry. :|
I loved that picture....came in an email. We all usually get the same emails, don’t we? Its like all these emails go out at the same time all over the United States!
That baby in the picture looks scared to death.
**That baby in the picture looks scared to death.**
We have a big, noisy family. My kids were pretty much immune to anything!
Too funny!
We sell Purina products at the garden center where I work. They sent out a flyer a few weeks ago announcing the name change on one of their products. XYZ feed, “formally” known as ABC. National exposure. I laughed about that one for weeks.
It’s called print blindness. LOL
We have a big cut-up, silly family too. Hubby was too when he was here and the two boys carry on the tradition.
I was looking at some pictures from Christmas 2006 and we were doing some silly things. Sorta reminded me of a bunch of drunks and none of us had had anything but coffee, tea and cokes, plus food! That caffeine will get to ya~~LOL~
When our boys were growing up we always had dogs and cats. When a dog passed on, we would get another one right away. I don’t have any now, just by my own choice. It hurts too bad when you lose them. The last one we lost was our second Sheltie and my husband and I cried for days. I just can’t take it anymore!
That WAS funny!!!
Baby sister is expecting in Nov. I told her the best thing she can do is make as much noise as possible when the baby’s sleeping. Gbaby was asleep on the couch a couple weekends ago. We had a bunch of people over for #2 son’s graduation party. TV was on, people were laughing and carrying on, gbaby was on the couch in the middle of it—never twitched the first time! LOL
**It hurts too bad when you lose them.**
I keep telling hubby, when these go—no more. I’ll probably renege. I do love my dogs. Sigh
I hate typos and I try so hard not to make them. You know that person had to feel lower tahn a snake’s belly!
He knows me well. He also knows I like to drive fast and he’s scare of anything over 55.
I got up to 146 on the Petty track in Orlando and that wasn’t fast enough.
For example a billboard for Boston Providence Bank will read Boston Prophylactic Bank. Makes me LOL.
I got that from the internet and I wonder if all of those things are true.....do you ever wonder about that?
I do the same thing—or rather, my brain does. Yeah, yeah! It’s all my brain’s fault!
Yeah. I’m not savvy enough to know if something’s been photoshopped or not. Course, a lot of people don’t notice stuff like that. I think some people’s brains are jsut more wired to catch glitches.
It makes my driving more interesting if there are enough signs and billboard around.
