I got another peek at a youngster fox, too.. The squirrels have already gotten the peanuts I put out this morning..The fox comes this time of day at times..
The youngster raccoons and squirrels have wrestled like kittens this week..Cute to watch indeed.
Gee, I wish you could get pics. You can download regular pictures to your computer (I know you know that and am surprised I know it..) Guess you are like me, being there with the camera and sitting like a statue is not what we are usually doing!
I could not physically hold a camera steady because of my tremor..Most things I do I can work around it or the motions don’t set it off..The digital cameras are so great now ..My son and daughter have them.
I remember you speaking to someone about the tremor. Is it just in one hand? And is it steady or come and go? Have you had it diagnosed? Yes, its hard enough to hold a camera steady period for me and I can understand what you mean!
I was going to have a BLT on toast and my L was bad! So I had a BET.....(bacon,egg,tomato!) It was delicious!
Yes, fans, fans, fans! We have four of them going...and a small window air. We have a very large, turn of the century two story home. Generally speaking, it stays fairly comfortable unless we have a heatwave like now! ... I love winter! Polly
Why do birds sing? Birds sing because they can and because they must, says David Rothenberg, a professor at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Songs are used to attract mates and defend territories, but the form is much more than function. Nature is full of beauty, and of music.
Birds sing because they have a syrinx instead of a larynx. The syrinx is the birds voice box, an organ that lies deep in a birds chest and is uniquely fashioned for song. That, at least, is the natural explanation for their gift.
But I ask again, why do birds sing? Because their Creator put a song in their hearts. Each bird is heavens high and holy muse, said John Donne, created to draw our hearts up to our Creator. They are reminders that He has given us a song that we may sing His praise.
So when you hear Gods little hymn-birds singing their hearts out, remember to sing your own song of salvation. Lift up your voiceharmonious, hoarse, or harshand join with them in praise to our Creator, Redeemer, and Lord.
The birds of the air sing among the branches, Israels poet observes. [Therefore] I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being (Ps. 104:12,33).
JC, I got those "Debbie Meyer Green Bags" that we see advertised on TV. They actually work! I had a head of lettuce in one of them for three weeks, and it was still as fresh as if I had just bought it!
And, no one paid me to say that! ;-)
Wow! That looks like the ultimate in decadence! Look at those geraniums! Now all I need is a hammock and a hunky cabana boy! :)
Hope today is much, much better!
Can’t take heat at all, and I know you were sufferin, esp with the kids. Take it easy today. :)
Poem for the First Day of Summer
“Summer Wind”
William Cullen Bryant
IT is a sultry day; the sun has drank
The dew that lay upon the morning grass,
There is no rustling in the lofty elm
That canopies my dwelling, and its shade
Scarce cools me. All is silent, save the faint
And interrupted murmur of the bee,
Settling on the sick flowers, and then again
Instantly on the wing. The plants around
Feel the too potent fervors; the tall maize
Rolls up its long green leaves; the clover droops
Its tender foliage, and declines its blooms.
But far in the fierce sunshine tower the hills,
With all their growth of woods, silent and stern,
As if the scorching heat and dazzling light
Were but an element they loved. Bright clouds,
Motionless pillars of the brazen heaven;—
Their bases on the mountains—their white tops
Shining in the far ether—fire the air
With a reflected radiance, and make turn
The gazer's eye away. For me, I lie
Languidly in the shade, where the thick turf,
Yet virgin from the kisses of the sun,
Retains some freshness, and I woo the wind
That still delays its coming. Why so slow,
Gentle and voluble spirit of the air?
Oh, come and breathe upon the fainting earth
Coolness and life. Is it that in his caves
He hears me? See, on yonder woody ridge,
The pine is bending his proud top, and now,
Among the nearer groves, chesnut and oak
Are tossing their green boughs about. He comes!
Lo, where the grassy meadow runs in waves!
The deep distressful silence of the scene
Breaks up with mingling of unnumbered sounds
And universal motion. He is come,
Shaking a shower of blossoms from the shrubs,
And bearing on the fragrance; and he brings
Music of birds, and rustling of young boughs,
And sound of swaying branches, and the voice
Of distant waterfalls. All the green herbs
Are stirring in his breath; a thousand flowers,
By the road-side and the borders of the brook,
Nod gaily to each other; glossy leaves
Are twinkling in the sun, as if the dew
Were on them yet, and silver waters break
Into small waves and sparkle as he comes.
Guess what...the Bear has been here. Thats my love name for my son Barry (my computer expert). I have had so much trouble with this thing that I haven’t enjoyed being on here! Of all things, my modem was bad...it was very small and he had to leave and go to the office and get a new one and it is really small. Seems like its even typing better~~LOL~~
Those green bags...I have wondered about them. They were advertized at Belks recently for ten dollars and I hadn’t had time to run and get any. I think they were the same ones but I’m not sure! I hate to buy lettuce being the only one here but I love a salad and a BLT occasionally!
I love fresh produce, but like you, living alone, a lot goes to waste.
I love green peppers - (now over a dollar each), but take one section from it, and in three days, it is slimey. Not with those “Green Bags”. They are as fresh a week later, as they would be if you just sliced them.
Directions must be followed, though. Totally dry all produce before using, and every few days dry any drops from inside the bag with paper towels.
(I should be getting paid for this very public recommendation.....Debbie Meyers - are you listening?) ;-)
yorkie, I believe they could replace Debbie with you. You are better....
I love green peppers too but usually just get them for spaghetti sauce or stuffed peppers (when I used to make stuffed peppers) but I love to eat them dipped into ranch dressing. I cannot always eat chocolate although those Hershey bars with almonds are on my counter begging!
Buy the green peppers and eat them fresh for a day or two, then freeze the rest for spagetti sauce. They freeze well just cut up and put in a baggie.
WOW, that ROHI ART is fantastic. Of course I love all your presentations. I couldn’t choose which one is the best.
I see you’ve been back to “the woods”. It doesn’t change does it? Still as beautiful as ever. Wish I lived your life, lol.
Thank you, Cardy. ;)
PowerPoint Presentation with music.
