So, apparently, in the near future, you will get ADS on your Zune. How about that? Now when you want to listen to Rod Stewart, an ad for Viagra will pop up!

If anything turns me off to any software or online service, it is an endorsement my Microlame. ;-)

Is there nowhere safe from advertisements?
They must be trying to push users to the iPod.

I have one of those Zunes, and although a handy little device, I am very fed up with the software. I spent 4 months trying to iron out the glitches that came in association with the first update. When the second was advertised recently by email, I got rid of it. I have been taught on Microsoft products, but I have come to discover that Microsoft's products are "all aesthetics, no functionality". A friend of mine just got Apple's Video IPod with 80gigs of space. It is smaller and more effective that my Zune.
I am not so sure Microsoft can afford to put this software in new Zunes. The processors might melt down.

What a great way to drive down sales.
I have a 30GB zune but have never bought a song from the zune marketplace. Or from any site for that matter.

Obsess much mr Jobs? Nothing in your story says it is mandatory nor harmful, sounds like a good use of a function that is under utilized right now anyways. But go on and obsess some more.

You should, they are DRM free or get it at Amazon. Also you can get unlimited songs for a monthly fee, they arent permanent, and you can now get tv shows and other movie downloads on the site as well. Frankly I can’t live without my Zune the way I could after my iPod broke for the second time.

Ummm no because it will be optional, if you knew anything about the social aspect of Zunes, which you obviously don’t.

If you check out MS’ history on this and extrapolate, about 30 minutes after they add the capability to the Zune software for popup ads to appear, someone will exploit it and it’ll be nothing but Herbal Viagra ads for Zune users from then on.

You have to have your wifi on for that to happen, and I very doubt your nihilistic anti-Microsft hate and obsession over the Zune will come to frution, if anything you are showing your naivity on the subject.

Provided the user does well at the game, they earn a coupon for a free bag of Doritos chips, with map directions to nearby stores that sell the chips.Satire, right? This is a joke, right? Right? I'm laughing. Hahahahahahahahahahahaha. Stop it. You're killing me.

How about this:
If Microsoft does this and it doesn’t get exploited in the first month the ad system is out, I’ll donate $5 to FR and publically apologize.

I definately agree to this because it simply isnt possible the way you are describing it. And no spammer in his right mind would concentrate his wares on a market so small with asystem that will likely have more than half of the participants wifi off.
