I have a question. Isn't bringing up your race constantly being a racist? i.e.
Mrs. Obama: "Earlier in my college career, there was no doubt in my mind that as a member of the Black community I was somehow obligated to this community and would use all of my present and future resources to benefit this community first and foremost. My experiences at Princeton have made me more aware of my Blackness than ever before."
I wonder what would happen if John McCain said: "my years as a US Senator, or a prisoner of war, etc has made me more aware of my "whiteness".
Dear Heavens! the media would pass a cow their their collective left nostrils!

Let me ask you: Do you think Peggy Noonan 'gets it'??? I think not.
She says that the GOP has 'squandered 40 years of legacy' (I thnk referring to the South). But in reality the GOP has squandered only the last 14 years, to wit:
Bill Frist -- living proof that doctors should stay in practice and not use their forceful personalities for anything other than patient advocacy...
Denny Hastert -- He who was elevated to the Speakership as one who would 'go along to get along' reinstituted the Earmark as no other Speaker has. A combination of Chicago machine politics and 'don't rock the boat'...
Ted Stevens -- 3 words: Bridge to Nowhere. Ask any Dem about the failure of the GOP Congress, he/she will always bring this up...
Peggy Noonan mentions none of this, only a full quarter-ton dump on W and the current admin. Yes, they have been terrible at explaining the war. Yes, they have had missteps all along the way. But the GOP Congress has been a digrace, and PN misses the point as it flies over her head...;-))
