"It is wonderful to be back in Oregon," Obama said. "Over the last 15 months, weve traveled to every corner of the United States. Ive now been in 57 states? I think one left to go. Alaska and Hawaii, I was not allowed to go to even though I really wanted to visit, but my staff would not justify it."

Hillary should run with this now.
And his staff wouldn't "allow" him to visit Alaska and Hawaii. So either he thinks there are 58 states, two of which are not Alaska and Hawaii, or he thinks we have 60 states.
According to this guy, Steven Harper is the “president” of Canada and there are 57 states in the US. How can you expect a man who doesn’t even know how many states are in the country to be president???
And people think Bush is dumb....
You are so right. Stayed up too late last night.
LA Times, usually a voice for the left, has great coverage of this story today.
Nope. He wasn't misspeaking. He took a moment to think about how many states there are, then said he'd visited 57, with one more to go, but his staff wouldn't let him visit Hawaii and Alaska. In other words, he got three basic and material facts about our country wrong in one sentence.
The fact that there are 50 states is so ingrained in most Americans in early grade school that even if asked after going without sleep for two days, most of us would still get the answer right.
Best laugh I've had in ages. That's hysterically funny. :)
Jonny, you have to see the photo Child posted with the above caption. Priceless.
And people actually want this maroon to sit in the Oval Office!?!
Which begs the question: How did he graduate from a prestigious private school in Hawaii with grades high enough to get into Harvard, let alone graduate from Harvard?
Inspired a new tagline.
Don't forget "intelligent" and "brilliant." Democrats running for high office are always the second coming of Einstein mixed in with some Lincoln and FDR. Republicans running for high office are always dumb, and they either lack gravitas or are senile.
A state of confusion, a state of denial, a state of deception, etc.
Just as engineers can be good in math but not English.
Didn't his minister say that there is a difference in the way the races think?
ROFLMAO!!!
He has showed “numeracy” problems on several occasions now.
I think he got into Harvard under one of those EOC programs. Probably had SAT scores that were 20% lower than some poor white kid. That's how he and his wife got into Harvard.
You have to graduate high school first. Presumably HS grads have at least basic proficiency in simple arithmetic and geography. I mean, what math and geographic proficiency does it take to grasp that this nation has 50 states, and that if you've visited all but 1 of the 48 contiguous states and haven't visited Hawaii or Alaska, then you've visited 47 states?
Snicker...not counting weekends and holidays. He figures he has time for those because there are 436 days in a year. ;-)
[”Most of them haven’t read Obama’s books (yet they love him and don’t want to know...”]
I posted some of his most revealing comments from his books in post #70 Alicia, with hardly a notice!!

I heard it as Obambi saying he thinks there are 57 + 1 + 2 = 60 states
57 he has visited, “one more to” — and then Alaska and Hawaii that he will not get to because his staff could not justify it.
I don’t think it’s mere fatigue — 50 states is ingrained into every school child — MR OBAMA, ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A 5TH GRADER?
If a Republican did this we would be inundated with the ridicule on all the news and talking head programs. The MSM wrecked Dan Quayle over much less than this.
Obama is indeed innumerate, he has no firm sense of what numbers mean, and that is terrifying for a man who could well be the next POTUS and dealing with important numbers every day. He will be a puppet of his advisers, who are hard-core leftists.
And what are the capitals of those 7 “extra” states... Obama?
