When we come out of the timeout I would just like to know what the rules are:
1) we cannot bash any driver or any drivers fans (not the individual, the collective).
2) we can bash any driver and any drivers fans.
3) we can bash any driver or his fans as long as it is not saint JR.
4) we can not bash any driver or his fans unless the driver is a busch.
5) we do not have rules we have a g-dess and the courtesans
???

Let me just keep it short and here’s hoping folks can get along. If the thread was a one driver or one team only thread, that wouldn’t be right.
I never sanctioned this as a Junior or Flash or Smoke thread only. If those who post the individual threads want to use a theme and driver, fine by me, I do the same and others as well. IF some feel bad about it, get over it.
Some just have a hard time resisting the urge to take it to others once the race gets going, regardless who it is here and how long they been here .. I know it’s hard for some to reel in their passions, and others to not wear their stripes on their posts, but criminy, if folks can’t just stick to “bashing” the race and not get personal with the posters, I agree let’s shut her down.. In fact I was gonna shut this thing down a couple times,, I didn’t with trepidation, things had gone too smooth for too long as was , but if this pepperball game of waaahh and You wrecked my driver keeps up, I may do just that.
So , if everybody wants to get it out of their system , fine, do it now,, some already have, but come next week, please let the bantering fest stop and the racing begins.

I got bashed for saying something nice about VICKERS!!! It was taken as JR bashing and I caught holy heck.
The RIR crash was a great example of driving strategy. 88 had to know the 18 had him on the inside and was about to overdrive into the turn. A lot of drivers would have braked up a bit earlier and let the 18 slide up. It was a risk because the 18 driver can drive sideways, but the 18 driver was going to go in too hot and he HAD to come up the track in the turn - physics. being outside, fair or not, was asking for it. A better strategy was to get under the 18. he could not run the top. 88 could have forced the both cars to run out of their preferred grove. That would have been very exciting. But because it was JR and Kyle it had to be Kyle’s fault. Meanwhile we missed to opportunity to look at one of the most documented examples of strategy and skill and discuss it with brains and eyes not heart and temper. Too bad.
So I agree bashing drivers is bad. Bad for the thread and bad for the analysis. But it needs to go both ways. It is great to be a fan of a driver, but I’m in favor of a no bashing zone.
Let’s go racing, boys.
The neat thing about Nascar to me is the skill and strategy. I really do not care who wins as long as it is wild and wooly. I cannot imagine what is like to sit on pins and needles hoping that one of the 43 wins and any other outcome is bad. That would seem to take most of the pleasure out of it. Most of the time you would be disappointed. It is like fishing - if you cannot enjoy a day out on the water if you get skunked then you should make fishing your profession not your hobby - and why I do not golf.
You can do anything you want as long as you DO NOT WHINE! Make your point about so and so being a slug and stupid fool who should never be a NASCAR driver, then SHUT UP about the guy.

A few folks want to have a barroom theme here it seems (I like parts of that idea), others would welcome a classroom scene (very proper and all, I try and push it that way to correct wide swings into the weeds), I don’t want either or a cathedral at mass scene either... but it’s hard to have a leisurely discussion thread when some folks take things so seriesly... and personally. btw, I hear there are kids that view this thread.. fwiw. :-)
I don’t know how to crack the ‘bash’ nut... other than ask folks to rein it in, take it offline, take a deep breath, etc. , the horse is dead already, no offense to horse lovers.. but folks love beating it nonetheless.
Shrub doesn’t lack for gumption and drive, not so sure he’ll be the same driver in 5 years after he gets his ears pinned back by some of those that do mix it up with him.. Kurt has sure tanked lately.. Shrub should just enjoy the ride while it lasts... He can ask Junior for advice. ;-)

Good to see you posting, fideist, hope your son and family are well.
You and the plurals weren’t driven off, wasn’t worth the waste of fuel at the time. You were asked to rein it in and when unable to do so, asked to lurk or start your own thread.
Names may get dropped off the ping list but I don’t banish anyone as a rule and if getting disinvited from a thread like this has caused you such anguish and despair until a certain someone else leaves, my my . Still, you want to participate on the thread, Great! Have at it!
All that was asked was folks to take it offline or rein it in when the urge to let ‘it’ rip, but Nope, some just can’ do that. That’s when the wheels come off.
Personality clashes disrupt the flow of the thread and don’t add anything to the racing, imo. Lately we border on having more victimhood and vitriol on display than racing.
Enough already ..
Pit or get off the shot.
