We got the trailer home! It was a bit of a saga getting it ready at the shop today, we did end up having to repack the bearings for a couple hundred bucks, and there were issues with the wiring for the lights, but it's home now and safe in the driveway.

We can't get it off the truck... the hitch lock appears to work a little too well. It's rusty and stuck. But we'll solve that tomorrow when it's light.

Tomorrow I'll clean it and start stocking it with our stuff before we move it out into the pasture. That will be the fun part, making it a little homey. :~)

Good to see the trailer in its new home! I know y'all will feel a lot more safe in a place NOT under the waving trees!

We've had our own trailer dramas this week. We've been packing boxes of our worldly goods, and putting them in the V-nosed cargo trailer for the last year and a half. SirKit decided that he wanted to take that trailer on down to MS to get it off our driveway, and to get some more stuff out of the house before we start the remodeling. He has been monitoring the weight balances, to see how much more we could get into it, and we had to do several shifts to get it right. Then he realized that he didn't like the old hitch, so he bought a new one, and installed it.

He took the trailer down off the braces yesterday, and we filled the tires. Then he realized that the tires may not be able to handle the full load, so he called to see if we could get four new heavier duty tires today. He hauled it over to Pete's Tire Barn this morning, and on the way, got the feeling that the hitch wasn't handling the load very well. He'd already bought a load-balancing hitch, but had never installed it. So, after getting four new shoes for the trailer, we took it to an RV place, and they installed the new hitch assembly, having to call a welder to complete the job. SirKit had suspected that would be the case, and he couldn't have done that anyway.

On the way to the RV place, the truck started making a funny noise, so after dropping off the trailer, we took it to the Ford place, but they couldn't work on it today. So we left it overnight, and we're just praying that it's something REALLY small, and that they can fix it in the morning. We were supposed to have been in FL on the 13th for SirKit's sibling reunion, but we missed that. We're going to get there just in time to spend the last week in the condo with his older brother!

But the bright spot in all this is that I don't have to serve Jury Duty on Oct. 6th, so we can stay down there longer, if we want. I got my Duty postponed until April, so that took a LOT of pressure off. We've been trying to get out of here for a week, but if all goes well, we can be on the road to MS tomorrow afternoon!

That’s gonna be handy for lots of things, I think.

Neato.
