Love the new AR. It is just like hers except for the fold down front sight and a different model stock. Also we upgrade hers to Hogue grips and I left mine stock (so far). I have a rail to add to it and a vertical grip to attach to that.
Fun stuff, can't wait to hit the range.
Now for my gunsmithing question. I like my AK a lot, it is fun to shoot... except the trigger. The pull is ok but it has a sort of ‘lash’ that numbs my finger when the rifle is fired. Sort of like hitting something immovable with a metal baseball bat. ow.
Has anyone shot a gun that did something like that? I am thinking of looking for a non-metal replacement trigger and wondering if that will fix it.
Mmmm... nice AR. If I had it to do over again, I might’ve gotten a fold-down front sight too. I find the co-witness through the scope to be distracting, and I haven’t even bothered to get a folding rear sight. Not sure if I will or not.
WRT the trigger issue... can’t say I’ve ever had that happen to me. Is it the shape of the trigger that’s the problem? or the snap back action? Maybe a discussion with a local gunsmith would isolate some options.
Every family in America should have what you and your lady have as a minimum. Were I chief cook and bottle washer of this countries homeland defense I’d issue such to every capable adult citizen.
What state requires a 25 yard test, if you don’t mind telling ? I have had a CHL here in Texas since the law came into effect yet seem to remember on a 15 yard target as longest. Your 25 yard effort should be easy if not times as ya well know. Slow determined effort and ya’ll will be fine IMO per my following of your posts. Ya seem to have an above average level of abilities etc .
AK’s are very rough abd basic systems that go bang EVERY TIME. They make a great urban house gun yet even with all my efforts too tweek the MAK90’s that I own they all are less that 300 meter guns of a 18 inch torso target errrrr brisket. Not real sure of an after market trigger. I have pinged Archy and some others who will know is there is a good reliable aftermarket trigger for the AK series.......Good Luck Sir !
Stay safe !
Good deal on the new rigs BTW .......
Perhaps an improved replacement trigger will fix that. I haven't fired mine enough to notice. There are web sites devoted to the AK47, and you might try Brownells
Evening Talon - very nice weaponry, his and herz models. 25 yds is right fur piece but with a bit of practice, y’all get it. In days gone by we shot a lot at 25 yds, standing and kneeling, strong and weak hand. For defensive, 3, 7 and 10 yards make more sense to me.
Re; AK trigger, my gunning buddy says ‘aftermarket - brownells or hit the AK forums’. No personal experience with aftermarket triggers and AKs.
