A Maryknoll priest?

Way back when I was a kid (pre-1960) the Maryknoll order was known for being very anti-Communist, but 20 years after that they were among the furthest left of all the Religious orders, revolutionary theology and all! Haven't heard much of them lately, do you know anything about this priests positions?

Honestly, I don’t know. He didn’t get into a lot of detail, fo all his talkin’. ;-) They tend to talk more about the more secular of the projects they’re working on, for whatever that means. More about getting wells to people, that sort of thing. It was the same when they had another Maryknoll priest come last year.

I think because the Maryknolls became so melded into their poor communities that they started taking on their problems personally, and got more into the political solutions than the spiritual ones.

They do a LOT of good for the people in their communities, as the priest at Rosie's parish talked about, with wells, and practical things to help the people live their lives in a better, or at least easier fashion.

There are also lay folks who volunteer with the Maryknolls, and who live in other countries for a year or two, helping the priest in poor areas. We had a Youth Minister in our Parish who, with his wife and daughter, moved to South America to work with the Maryknolls. They came back the following year to do a Mission trip, for a few weeks, to raise money for the Maryknolls, but we were out of town and missed them.
