The Hobbit Hole XXXVI - O! Water cold we may pour at need...

Posted on 05/03/2008 8:48:06 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

So I got this song stuck in my head and it turned into a somewhat twisted short story (*great* acoustic performance vs. the studioized music video...). I've got a first draft at just over 2K that needs some polishing but I figure it's a good warmup for NaNo.

Didn’t say what they’re confirming.

The rats. They owe you a hint, or a hint of reassurance, or something.

I think they want to confirm that I did indeed have a small bleed, as I have suspected all along. We’ll see.

Well, the more info she has, the better for making a diagnosis and a plan of action!

I’ll have to listen to the song when I get home...but funnily enough, I was just discussing (with some of the TypeWriMos) stealing stories from songs or poems to use for NaNo.

I still don’t have a plot...but if I can find the right song to use as a starting point, I may run with that....

I finished a short story last night. It’s abhorrent, and needs a lot of trimming and reworking, but at least I’m writing, I guess.

I like Elvis Costello; he's just weird enough. ;o) The St. Stephen's Day Murders is another one of his strange ones. This isn't a video, but an audio performance. I have the Chieftan's Christmas compilation, "Bells of Dublin", and always enjoy this song.

He’s a heck of an artist, in the true admirable kind of way. He knows how to craft a song. And that one has been stuck in my head for daaaaaaaays. I’m humming it right now, as a matter of fact.

You Are the Philosopher
You love thinking things over and developing theories.
Learning is very important to you, and you pursue knowledge relentlessly.

You love to talk about the things you know, often in more detail than people would like to hear.
And you know a lot! You're always taking on new subjects, interests, and hobbies.

You are at your best when you are left alone to ponder your newest ideas and experiments.
You tend to withdraw from environments that are loud, contentious, or passionate.
What Role Do You Play?

Who'd a thunk it!

Hmmm, didn't see this one coming, but LSA did.
You Are the Guru
You are a naturally good counselor. You are inspiring, encouraging, and compassionate.
You are eager to help everyone who crosses your path, even those who don't want to be helped.

You are a natural healer. People feel at peace when they are with you.
You are so good for people, in fact, that they go through withdrawal once you're gone.

You quietly do your own thing, without openly resisting. You secretly try to fix every problem.
Your biggest regret is not being able to help as many people as you'd like.

Well, this is another test, your patience with tests.

LSA and I both hope they find out what’s going on, stat.

I don't know how accurate this is, but having said that... it's good to be the king!

You Are the King
You are natural leader. You like to rule, and people like to be ruled by you.
You handle responsibility well. You enjoy providing for those who are loyal to you.

You master anything you try, and you refuse to accept failure as an option.
You're especially good at developing strategies and delegating tasks.

You are a total perfectionist. Your standards are hard to live up to.
However, you are also very generous ... at least to those in your inner circle.

Ugh...I kept changing my answers, but still kept getting this. One of my answers is triggering it, I guess, but I dunno which.

You Are the Innovator
You're the type of person who is always a step ahead of everyone else.
You thrive when you're experimenting with new designs, ideas, and attitudes.

You are a creative person with many talents. You have to have artistic outlets in your life.
You need to create - whether it's writing furiously or redecorating your home. If not, your life becomes chaotic.

You tire of doing the same thing every day. You change your job, friends, and personal style often.
You are at your best when you have a focus. If not, you develop a flaky artist's temperament.
What Role Do You Play?

That gal is scaaary lookin'.
