Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
Morning - Fence line maintenance, looks good. The brome sure provides a nice color contrast. I see you have an intelectual kitty, watching the history channel. Dang, those kitties are cute.
Saturday morning I went out on the front porch and there was greycat. Apparently ‘someone’ let him out Friday. LSA had taken him back to owners since the traffic was so heavy on our street. We ‘thought’ they would be smart enough to keep him in this weekend, but alas, they were not. So, with a full tummy of tuna, his own bed and litter box, he spent Saturday night in our basement. He apparently ‘got out’ sometime Friday and showed up Saturday morning. He’s been hanging out with us since. He’s a great cat and this traffic and noise and lights and ‘strangers’ had him spooked.
Last night, more people, slightly better bands and not quite as loud, more plastic and aluminum beer bottles on the lawn and in the day lily beds. Gypsy had lots of interesting sniffs. Well, that’s over for a while. All you can pancake brunch today downtown for five bucks, how many pancakes can you eat OT?
Do they bark at the commercials?
Heh. I don’t think trying to find out is a good idea. I’d guess 5 to 10.
Yesterday evening the nayber knocks on my door. He wants to know if my crawlspace is full of water. (no, it isn’t). His crawlspace was full of water and it shorted out his AC. He’s been pumping it out all night with a dinky electric pump through a garden hose. Told him I have a sump pump. Wonder how he’ll do during this next round of storms.
I want to do cheezeburgers on the grill today but don’t know if I ought with the wind blowing like this.
Heh, surprised the nayber didn’t have a sump pump. We hope he gets one and soon, looks like we’re due for another round or two this week. btw Have you checked on him today?
Wind seems to be dying down, give the cheezeburgers a whirl, I’d chance it. Got some pruning to do. Oh, the foxglove and penstemon are blooming. Hot Rockets and shasta daisys will bloom soon. Chocolate mint is doing well, almost too well.
Heh. There’s still water coming out of his garden hose.
Hope he gets a sump pump soon...
I was going to put some more plants in the ground today but I think I’ll just let them ride the storm out under the eaves instead.
Guess I should start on those cheezeburgers...race coverage starts at 11:30
Nice work on the scotch broom! I...umm...what did I do? Well, some prep for next weekend, I guess.
Heh...the little guy was watching TV a bit when I was over, too...
I get HD channels though they aren’t HD on my old TV - today the History Channel has a full-day Ice Road Truckers marathon. It’s educational if it’s on the History Channel, right? I like that show. ;-)
We watch Ice Road Truckers too... are they ramping up for new shows this week?
The new season starts tonight, I guess.
I’ve not really watched episode by episode as it comes out, but I’ll watch it if I catch an episode. It’s rather fascinating.
Tonight, it's the Ax Men season finale and the Ice Road Truckers season premiere, back to back.
Rockin'!
The last couple weeks of Ax Men have hit a little close to home with the wind storms and such. Those guys are going to be cleaning up blow down sites for a couple years to come yet after the last two winters.
Good grief, no sump pump?
Ours is working hard to keep us dry right now. Down the road, Iowa City is flooding... like back in 93 apparently. Really bad.
Well he’s got a berm...
I’m hearing it’s about 95 near Knoxville, where I’ll be next week...so I guess I’ll get my wish and then some...
I’m also paying out the nose for the travel portion. Costs more to get there than it does for the entire week with classes, food, board, and concerts all included. :-\ There was no real way around that, but I don’t know that I’ve have signed up to go if I’d known it was gonna be so expensive to fly. Not to mention the fact that I’ll have to pay for a second bag on the way home.
I don’t think I’ll be flying again any time soon. It’s getting so it’s not worth it unless you have to for business. Kinda sad.
That’s about what it is here.
Maybe we can blame it on global warming.
Awww...
Pinging Entmooters ‘cause you may remember him. For all my complaining, here’s something that I’ll *have* to travel for, likely next summer some time: my brother Bill is engaged. Awwwwww....
And, once again, his fiancée is a real sweetheart. How my brothers keep lucking into such wonderful women, I don’t know. ;-) And this time my Dad doesn’t have to travel far, which makes him happy...heh. She’s from central New Hampshire.
Awwww...I’m so happy for them!
I also have another two nieces or nephews or one of each on the way. Very cool. Even while it hurts a bit, being the apparently permanent old maid aunt.
Tell him congratulations from us :~)
We finished the last two fence lines. For now anyway. :~)
Well good, get those bothers safely taken care of! Bill’s a nice guy too. Bet he’s grown a lot since Entmoot.
Heh. He’s still pumping.
