We’re going to get our IA permits. The sheriff is not running for reelection and the probable new one has promised to take away the $500 rule. So we have to sign up, take a class, and pass the test - 10 shots at 25 yard range. Which is ridiculously far for defense purposes and I’m not where I need to be for that yet. The test yesterday was at 5, 7 and 10 yards and I did great on that.
Clare and Joseph love saying “Fail”! And they know when to do it with the greatest comic effect.
How did it go with the dogs last night? Did everyone behave?
You guys aren’t heading out until mid-afternoon or so, no?
Everything was fine with the dogs! Barkley was a lil angel. :~)
Been playing with kittens this morning, and figuring out the day... I think we’ll leave here around 4:00, which means we’ll be able to feed dogs and horses before we go. Any time you want to spend over here, whether to hang out or just stop in and check on them a time or two and see if dogs want out is good. :~) What do you think?
Sounds good! I’m going to noon Mass here, and then I want to continue with some of the organizing I started on this morning. I want to actually get this place into a state where I could have company (not that I’m expecting any, but...)...right now, it’s just *not* there.
I can wander over there at some point with a book and hang out, or stop by a few times with Cisco just to check on everyone. I have some chili verde stuff to cook up for lunches this week, so I probably won’t stay over there the whole time, but can be there most of the evening.
Maybe I’ll lug a typewriter over and see how much it freaks out the critters. ;-)
Tweek and Pippin will be in, right? Just so I know what to watch out for when opening doors...
Whew. Got the lawn mostly mowed while Talon works on the kitchen. We had such a wet spring the lawn got a big head start, so we’ve been mowing down a little more of the back each time. Got it about two-thirds done now. The third that has yet to be mowed is going to kill us.
We hope they’ll be in... if you see them out they shouldn’t be, we weren’t able to get ‘em.
We’d appreciate any attention you can give them, it’s a longer night than they’ve all be left cooped up in awhile. :~)
Afternoon - How’s the Race coming along? Gypsygirl announced (one minute ago) that it was 4:30 and should someone be feeding her? or at least preparing to?
Greycat has spent most of the weekend at our place; guess he looks on this as a weekend place. Squirrels have not been pleased but we have been. :-)
Lawnmower has reached the ‘please let me use you one more time, please’ stage of it’s life. Will be scouting out a replacement. grumble.
Next weekend is the Downtown Daze aka Streets Alive aka Cole Younger Days. Oh boy, are we excited...not. Carnies will be moving in mid week, at least this year they won’t be ‘camping’ across the tracks from us. Will let you know more as we do. Think it was a couple of years ago ShootMoot1 was the same weekend and LSA stayed to guard the homeplace.
*Sigh*
Junior got caught up in someone else’s wreck before lap 20. But at least the Cubs won!
I got a third of a new bed (in front of the sidewalk) dug and planted and since the utility lines are marked for the road work, I planted some loosestrife down near the road.
The neighbors (and I) all mowed our lawns on the same day....awesome!
OK - we’re getting ready to go here... Everyone will be in, unless we lose one at the last minute. Everyone has been fed, but if the kittens run out of the wet food, they can have another can, it’s over on the dresser by the window.
Thanks for looking in on them, feel free to play with your kittens. :~)
That sounds like quite a lawn care coordination plan. Neighborhood newsletter?
You’re really busy planting and what not, hope you haven’t forgot to grill. :-)
Sorry bout Junior - but like you said Cubs won and amazingly enough the Royals won yesterday.
I finished the planting about 40 minutes before the game and race started (of course they had to start at the same time!) and got the sirloin on the grill soon after.
The Royals won yesterday and today- over my Indians, those bums...
WooHoo—we’re on a roll!! Next stop, playoffs!!!!

There’s only one thing I fear more than nuclear war... carnies!... *hushed tone* small hands */hushed tone* /Austin Powers
If you need an overwatch, gimme a call... but I’m sure you have the situation well in handled...
the duet was well received... I thought I sounded awful...
long day... we helped our choir director pack-out this afternoon, then attended a farewell fellowship for their family...
hory clap... the Indians must really suck this year...
Indeed they do, something is really wrong. You probably don’t sound any worse than me, and I can’t carry a tune in a wheelbarrow.
ludicrous... I'm almost ashamed to call Iowa my native state they've gone so left-wing-moonbat-stupid...
