Can We Really Hear From God?
Be still, and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10
A friend of mine who leads spiritual retreats once told me that not one person who has followed his regimen of a silent retreat has failed to hear from God. Intrigued and a bit skeptical, I signed up for a 5-day retreat. We had much free time and just a few requirements, such as the assignment to spend 2 hours praying each day.
I doubt I had devoted more than 30 minutes to prayer at any one session in my life. The first day I wandered to a meadow and sat against a tree. How long will I stay awake? I wondered. To my great fortune, a herd of 147 elk wandered into the very field where I was sitting. To watch 147 elk in their natural habitat is enthralling and, eventually, boring. Yet after a while the very placidity of the scene began to affect me. Over the next few days I said many words to God. I was turning 50, and I asked for guidance on how I should prepare my soul for the rest of life. Many things came to mind while sitting in a field for hours at a time. I had to agree that I had indeed heard from God.
When Elijah stood before the Lord on Mount Horeb, he didnt meet Him in the wind, earthquake, or fire. Rather, God spoke in a still small voice (1 Kings 19:11-12).
Im more convinced than ever that God finds ways to communicate to those who truly seek Himespecially when we lower the volume of the surrounding static.
Speak, Lord, in the stillness, while I wait on Thee;
Hushed my heart to listen, in expectancy. Grimes

Mr. Mayor, thank you for today’s lesson and Bible reading. It actually spoke right to me. I had an experience Saturday and had nowhere to turn but to my Lord. I may tell my little story later. I will tell you that a prayer was answered for me within an hour and a half after I talked to God with my tears and prayers.

Just a quick note if I’m not around for a while, I am meeting with a few of my ‘high school friends’ for lunch today. The eating won’t take long, but the talking is something else! One of these days I will catch up on my pings and posts...thank you all~~~~
To: jaycee
It’s amazing how when we earnestly seek the Lords help and advice he answers, we have to keep an open mind, look and listen, he will respond.
Thank you Jaycee.

Leaving Heartprints Forever
Thanks to every one of you
It means so much to me
Whenever I am feeling low
Its your hearts I can see
When my spirit needs a lift
A special glow you send
No better gift can be found
Than the heart of a friend
It's in knowing you are there
Whenever my heart slips
When down you lift me high
Upon wings of friendships
The caring comfort you give
As we place souls together
Loving support you supplied
Leaving heartprints forever

Blessings
He gave to you good parents,
A child He gave to them.
That is a double blessing,
Sent to us all from Him.
Your Dad and Mom will raise you,
According to His word.
The rest of us support them,
Their promise we have heard.
Little One you are a gift,
Sent straight from God above.
A miracle for Dad and Mom,
To show His Precious Love.
Dad and Mom do give Him praise,
By dedicating you.
This shows they see His Blessings,
Are many, not a few.

The subtle beauty of this day Hangs o'er me like a fairy spell, And care and grief have flown away, And every breeze sings, "all is well." I ask, "Holds earth or sin, or woe?" My heart replies, "I do not know."
Nay! all we know, or feel, my heart, Today is joy undimmed, complete; In tears or pain we have no part; The act of breathing is so sweet, We care no higher joy to name. What reck we now of wealth or fame?
The past--what matters it to me? The pain it gave has passed away. The future--that I cannot see! I care for nothing save today-- This is a respite from all care, And trouble flies--I know not where.
Go on, oh noisy, restless life! Pass by, oh, feet that seek for heights! I have no part in aught of strife; I do not want your vain delights. The day wraps round me like a spell And every breeze sings, "All is well."

This is excellent, OESY, and helps me to better understand the helicopter pilots we are currently writing to.
You nailed it, no. 64 is what it is all about for the veteran and the active duty.
Thank you.
