Getting ready to watch the Indy 500, which should be starting at 9:00.
My son and DIL are at the race, so I will be looking for them in the stands.
I received this in an e-mail from my son....a photo of him, Danica Patrick and my DIL, taken during the 'meet and greet' with the drivers yesterday. Danica is all anyone is talking about at Indy this year.
GO DANICA!!!
I am still feeling kind of poorly. Thanks all for the 'get well' messages. I am going to take it easy today and should be back up to parr soon.
Wishing all a blessed Sunday.

Graphic by Billie
With My Shield, Or On It
I know it is upsetting,
To see things done this way.
Flag-draped caskets side by side,
Theyre headed home today.
One thing you might not think about,
The view from the inside.
Ive got some time now on my hands,
While on this final ride.
Sorry I didnt write more,
Too late to fix that now.
Ill try to be more scrupulous,
To get word out somehow.
There are no easy channels,
But Im sure that you will know,
I dont regret the choice I made,
And why I had to go.
Youd think perhaps the view from here,
Would be quite dark inside,
But it is light as light can be,
My burdens been untied.
And Ive been lifted up,
On angel wings I think,
And Ive got every thing I need,
Except our kitchen sink.
Id like to wash my hands once more,
And turn and get a hug.
I wish I could shake the hand of,
My best friend too, ya lug.
But all that stuff is over now,
Ive got my new assignment,
Looks like I hitched my wagon to,
A different star alignment.
I know I always promised Mom,
Id try to be real good,
Will someone please just let her know,
I did the best I could.
I have to go now, duty calls,
Think of me when you can,
The folks will think they lost their boy,
My buddies saw a man.

Mama_Bear, enjoy watching the race today! Have a steaming bowl of hot chicken noodle soup, and I guarantee you will feel better. (I don't share my homemade noodles with just ANYbody, you know!)
Get well soon, now, y'hear?

LOL! Well, the local tv station took a different train to the Grand Canyon, than our FReeper TARDS did - so they didn’t get on the evening news, afterall.
Quix had made the sign for the trip, and since they weren’t going to be on the news, he came back and taped it on my gate (with my permission, of course! I just didn’t know when he would do it!) He also shared his beautiful handmade pottery with everybody here!
It was a true time of FReeper-hood! lol

OUR SOLDIERS
When the security of our land is threatened,
We call on our soldier's might,
To go wherever they're needed,
To defend us day and night.
They leave their loves ones behind,
A great price our soldiers must pay.
Let us salute their courage and bravery,
May we remember them each time we pray.
Each time we spot "Old Glory"
Waving for all to see,
Let's think of all the soldiers that have
Kept it flying proud and free.
This great country is tolerant
Of cultures from other lands,
But, when they attack our precious freedom
We will punish with a heavy hand.
Our soldiers are tried and true,
Tempered like carbon steel,
Born of American Spirit;
Raised with American will.
Remember our fallen heroes that died,
So freedom may grow,
To nations around the world,
Wherever our warriors may go.
