I was just reading an article that referenced "sin taxes" cigarettes being one...Well, Many years ago, I used to smoke..and the last time I bought a pack of cigarettes, they cost $1.50 a pack. I was wondering if anyone knew offhand, what they are currently going for?
Taxes ... Chicago’s oxygen .. they’re unbelievable.
And no matter what they sell, bring in, increase
the taxes on every possible thing they can, there’ll
never be enough $$ for this huge bureaucratic machine.
They’re now going to sell the naming rights to Chicago
landmarks, roads, attractions and municipal properties!
You’ve never seen anything like this place.
Cigarette coupons are becoming a thing of the past. Tabacco companies are not handing them out anymore because they are traceable by state gov’s.
I think the tabacco companies are required to put names on them now and report who is getting them and using them.
Other brands, premiums or off brands, may be lower or a bit higher.
Dang, you guys have the ammo ID thing too, don’t you?
I’ve found a new “cheap” brand that I can stand called, get this, “Tough Guy”! They are made in Armenia and I get them for under $14 a carton at Dirt Cheap. They are pretty crappy but at least they aren’t flavored which a lot of the discount brands are, to cover up the fact that they are made with floor sweepings, I guess..lol.
The next time I visit my buddy in Collinsville I’ll watch for that sign I saw. Maybe I can get a pic, it would be fun to have, for the record.
If your name is not on the cig coupons then they have a customer ID number on them that matches up with your name and mailing address.
And less military. At least NZ military.
> And less military. At least NZ military.
Sadly true.
Just out of curiosity, mate. What time is it there now? Something like 1730? (5:30 PM?)

Something precisely like 17h30, Saturday afternoon. Well done!
Thank you, sir!
Keep the faith. The right-minded will govern your land again.

This is Old Hat in New Zealand. Believe it or not, there plenty more taxation delights for you in Chicago, if Dayley and your city fathers are following the NZ playbook...
Geez, the Chicago city hall are babes-in-arms when it comes to institutionalized corruption on a massive governmental scale. Prediction: “Da Mare” is going to take a field trip to Wellington, and come back all bright eyed with new ideas of ways to scam you lot with more taxes. Helen is going to become his new best buddy. And you thought wrought-iron fences on everything was excessive...
Here in the midwest, they are around $4 a pack. Haven’t seen $1.50 since the mid 90s.
Although I don't smoke Marlboro, I believe they're about $1.20 for a pack of 20.
Which makes Indonesia, Smokers' Paradise :-)
If you visit Illinois, don’t bring your concealed gun, it’s a felony in Illinois.
Stuff my own cigarette tubes. Total cost = $0.69 pack.
Surely you Kiwis didn’t expect anything different from Clark when you elected her, did you? Woman’s been a stone socialist all her life, give cards and spades to idiots such as Osamabama.

(sigh) She was always ever going to be a train-wreck. The trick will now be to get rid of her — this has been a trick since the last two elections. With MMP (our voting methodology) the Government is determined by who can cobble together the largest coalition. It is possible to clobber Helen at the polls and still lose — if the sum of all her partners is greater than the sum of all her opponents. (it is similar to Germany’s political system).
On paper right now, it will be a very nearly run thing.
I do hope you good folks find some way of putting Clark out to grass, or better still, on some atoll somewhere.
FReegards!
Never smoked in my life but used smokeless tobacco for about 37 years now (and still have all my teeth). Used to pay 25 cents a can for Skoal when I started, now I pay about $1.19 a can for Longhorn wintergreen. Alot of people say, “Ooh gross!” I don’t even spit so most people don’t know I dip. 2 cans a week pretty much lasts me. Plus I can eat or drink anything without taking it out of my mouth. (must have a cast iron stomach). And you’re right, tried to quit once and found it impossible.
