Bryan Adams, who I'll admit is a good singer, almost sings in your key?
Out of curiosity, what is your key?

I suppose that depends upon what one is sacrificing, Everyone has a point where they say, "Here I will Not yield." but that should be balanced by having many points where you are willing to be flexible.

Find it useful to delete my first response and retype it again. This helps me avoid saying really stupid things and some of the typos, usually, sometimes, maybe.

We’re going to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, for a week. We need the piano (and the guitar) so we can work on new music for the Spanish choir. Anoreth wants to take the telescope to look at stars. The house we’re renting is right on the beach, so they’ll have a clear view to the south and east - no lights or buildings to obscure the heavens.
If we’re careful, we can probably get both items under one of the van seats.

Beats me...I just know I sing tenor and can’t hit the high notes. I haven’t sung alto since I was 12. ;o]

I’m not off somewhere sulking or anything. This will be a travel weekend. Somewhere in the wilds of Pennsylvania there is a raw hamburger patty that I intend to hunt, capture, and make into roast beast.
I’ll probably be thinking about ‘Face’s suggestion for some Castle projects.
Hmm. Exploration? Discovery? Adventure?
It’s a big solar system. The possibilities are endless.

Yep. If one finds themself at that point, and it becomes a strain, just walking away and taking a break is always an option--sometimes a healthy one. I'm here referring to posting on FR and not life in general; it's much easier to take a break from the former.

I suppose that depends upon what one is sacrificing ...That is true. In my original context, I was thinking of a whole array of religious, social, or historical positions which anyone may believe are true (and many of which, of course, must be either true or not true) but which are not key to the survival of our Republic (plus Canada and maybe Australia and New Zealand, and I hear things aren't too bad in Ecuador.)
For example, I think it's more important to have a positive relationship with others who support the Right to Keep and Bear Arms than to debate them about evolution or education policy. This is not to say that one *shouldn't* debate, but before the point where people are typographically screaming obscenities at one another, I prefer to shrug and say, "This has been an interesting exchange; have a nice day."
It's not a matter of abandoning what one believes to be true, but rather of deciding not to argue a particular point at a particular time.

You’re going to hunt cows for the weekend, when you could come to Myrtle Beach and hang with us? We have an extra room until Monday night!

I do the same--usually a few edits. Those college writing classes and their strict emphasis on edit-edit-and-re-edit is a habit I'll probably never break.
The problem with revision is that one can accumulate errors in the revision process whilst correcting the original errors. However, it does help one to center their thinking and composition rather than just "blurting out" in type.

Can we barbecue a Cape Buffalo or a Musk Ox? I have recipes in the “L.L. Bean Fish and Game Cookbook”!
I’ll bet they eat kudzu!

There are all kinds of things we can do in the Castle. Maybe someone wants to remodel, or build a playhouse for the kiddies, or start a small business. Maybe some classes for those of us who need a brain transplant. (Me.)
The orchards need pruning, and we need to add more books to the library and maybe make the fireplace smaller to accomodate them; we should probably add more telescopes and increase the square footage of the Walk of Kilts and Tams in the tower.
I’m sure the forges and lower levels need attention. I’m afraid to even think about what’s been going on down there, with Darks and DC gone. Whose side are the spider bots on, anyway?

Such is the point of no return, as far as I'm concerned. I'm sure it serves as a form of catharsis for some, but there are better outlets for that. Life is far too rich to waste working one's self up into a froth over a post on FR.
I prefer to shrug and say, "This has been an interesting exchange; have a nice day."
See tagline. ;)

My original response to HTB (deleted by author) included the idea that--yes, I know it's trite--one should choose their battles carefully. There is fine line between prudence and abandoning one's deeply-held convictions.
