If you would — or have already — rejected The Almighty, I'm sorry, but all bets are off as to the longevity of our relationship.
HKMk, your post took me by surprise. I have been struggling with my faith lately, to the point where I am not sure if God made man, or man made God, but I wouldn't condemn you for having a different belief than I have. I've been asking quite a few questions lately on the religion threads, and it's surprising how many will attack me for a simple question.
In any event, I'm still willing to talk to you, and enjoy your companionship here on the UT.
We can agree, or we can disagree. But we must disagree agreeably.

Yah...I have a photo somewhere, of my son at the age of two, with another little boy the same age. Both had tape across their mouths, but my son thought it was great fun! The other kid was crying. We took the tape of but I still laugh when I think of it!

I sometimes find, when I’m out in the rest of FR, a person I know from here saying something with which I disagree. And I say to myself, “What would I gain by arguing this point with this person? Nothing!”
An otherwise congenial relationship helps to center the argument, I've found.
As HK has said (paraphrasing), if things really fall apart, as some think they will in the near-to-mid term, it will be extremely important for us to be able to form alliances based on fundamentals, while sacrificing our urge to be proved Right about a lot of things.
I suppose that depends upon what one is sacrificing, but point taken nonetheless. I may spend the rest of this godforsaken election year at the Undead Thread exclusively--maybe a few excursions into the wasteland from time to time--depending upon how the general forums hold up.
I appreciate all of you putting in your two cents on this issue.
