Thats a beautiful hummingbird. Never see one like that in this part of the country. I've only seen a Rufous here once and he was just passing through. I don't know what variety the others are that we have. Probably a lot of Anna's Hummingbirds.

My computer is awfully slow tonight or FR one. I have had one more time getting from place to place! Think I will just close down and watch some t.v. a bit!
I hope its not my computer. I will reboot later and maybe do a Sweep to speed this booger up!
Maybe tomorrow won’t be so busy. The yard was mowed today and I swept the street at the curb (got a little left out there to do tomorrow). I don’t clean out there every week but it just needed a good sweeping. Blower doesn’t work as good out there as it does other places!
Nite, nite, Lori and FRiends!

Good night, jaycee. Sleep well.

LOL, JC! I’m laughing out loud, here at that picture!
I’ve been so busy this week. I have company coming on Sunday and they live in CA at Seventeen Mile Drive. (Carmel) LOL - will they ever be SLUMMING!
So, I’ve been trying to clean up a bit, since I don’t have any housekeepers or maids. LOL!

It's Not A Game
Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. Mark 8:34
My former neighbor often talked about "the game of life," and I can understand why he did. It's part of human nature to approach life as one big game made up of a lot of little games. Competing can be fun, exciting, and stimulating.
But life is a whole lot more than a gameespecially for a follower of Jesus Christ. When a believer needs to own the biggest house, drive the largest SUV, get the promotion first, and win every argument, something's terribly wrong from God's point of view. It's not right to run over people's feelings, bend or break the rules, and gloat over victories.
To approach life as one big game that you always have to win is to live in hopeless delusion and fantasy. While material possessions, professional success, and personal victories are enjoyable, they last only for this life. Then they're all left behind.
Jesus instructed His disciples to deny themselves, identify with His cross, and follow Him in self-denial, and for some that even meant death (Mark 8:34-35). He made it clear to His disciples that artificial victories in "the game of life" don't count for much. What really counts is what's done for the Lord.
If I have but Jesus, only Jesus
Nothing else in all the world beside
O then everything is mine in Jesus;
For my needs and more He will provide. Olander

Excellent selections of poetry and pictures, Lady Jag—from the Bluebird of Happiness to the Hummingbird of Holiness. I can't say I recognize the Baha'i Scriptures, but the band at my senior prom did play the theme song from Bali Hai, if that counts.

Arp 148, nicknamed Mayall's object, is the aftermath of an encounter between two galaxies, resulting in a ring-shaped galaxy and a long-tailed companion. The collision between the two parent galaxies produced a shockwave effect that first drew matter into the center and then caused it to propagate outwards in a ring. Arp 148 is located in the constellation of Ursa Major, the Great Bear, approximately 500 million light-years away.
This stunning collision of two galaxies (UGC 4881) has been dubbed The Grasshopper. It has a bright curly tail containing a remarkable number of star clusters. The galaxies, located 500 million light-years away in the constellation Lynx, are thought to be halfway through a merger the cores of the parent galaxies are still clearly separated, but their discs are overlapping.
In this image, a feather-like galaxy crosses a companion galaxy. The two components will probably merge to form a single galaxy in the future. Dubbed ESO 593-8, they are located in the constellation Sagittarius, the Archer, some 650 million light-years from Earth.

Cardi, thank you. I loved this PPS show. My wife and I honeymooned in Greece.
Help me, if you will, on the name of the song. Seriously, I think I know it only as
the theme song from
Petraeus, My Love, or spelling to the effect. Anybody?

I have the name in Greek, although it looks like Hebrew on my computer. I do not know the name of the music, but here is a YouTube of the same music used in SATAKI which may be the name of the dance or the music.

After I listened to McCain bashing Bush yesterday over Katrina, he is going to have to prove he wants my vote! I certainly will not vote for the other candidates!
I have heard enough Bush bashing over Katrina from the Dems!
Thats just my political statement for this day!

I think the actual music is called “Zorba the Greek” just like the film - let me know if I am wrong

I don’t either, yorkie! (have housekeepers, etc.) I did when I worked for years. Just a lady to clean once a week and I loved it. Wish I had someone just once a month and it would take a load off me! I liked the kitties too. Seems years ago I may have said to my kids..”Look at me when I speak to you!” LOL~~

Thanks Oesy...exciting and fascinating information!

Well, the house they live in is a mansion in what is probably the most expensive areas in California. I’m guessing they have gold fixtures, marble everywhere, indoor pool, fountains, etc.
I’m glad to have a comfortable home. I wouldn’t want to live like that - cuz I wouldn’t be able to go barefoot all summer. LOL!

Secrets of a Glamour Queen
Well let you share our secrets. Please keep it to yourself.
The reason why we arent somewhere just sitting on a shelf.
We give a careful nurture, the image that we cast,
So that you cannot help to know, we are the highest classed.
If anyone should doubt us, why, the proof is clearly seen.
Weve photographic evidence, of memories, yet green.
We can show up in person, if you must have the proof,
But keep in mind, the last to ask, all seemed to just go Poof!
We dont mind kissing frogs to find that fabled Prince or two,
But those who stay as frogs will find they end up in a stew.
If youre into taking chances and dont mind to travel far,
Then come by, dear, and set a spell, or just be Hoppy where you are.
