Transplanting the roses from the old place to this place.
Theroses were planted on a kind neighbor’s land becausethe old landlord threatened to destroy them all.

Euw, don’t get me started on landlords!
We have roses here, but I rent also; one is so lovely and not properly cared for, will try to get through the other plant overgrowth and trim that one.
What are the names of the roses you saved, via your kind neighbor?

Have to figure out how to get a rose that “Only” grows 3 foot tall here.
It is currently taller than I am.
And I am 5’5”.

The one rose, a gift from my step-daughter, was supposed to be a BlueGirl.
But it turned odd pink.
Then there’s hot cocoa(the missus rose. Anniversary gift to her.) Blue Girl, MoonShadow, a yellow one that I can’t recall the name of because I wasn’t there when it was bought.

We grabbed the one in the pot, and one of the Eglantines from the old place.
There’s several more to go.
(I only listed those that were mine.. there’s Climbing iceberg, another Eglantine, Mister Lincoln, and others!)

It's official: My Momma Hummer is nesting again, as of 7:00 p.m. last night. :-)

That's wonderful. And you'll have another ring side seat to the event! How fun!

So, it's the same Hummer? I had no idea that birds mated and nested more than once in the spring. I kinda hope that when my jays are finished raising their current family, that they will cool it until next spring. I worry so much about them and their babies. I try to keep in mind that the birds know what they are doing, but it doesn't really help to know that birds have been multiplying since the beginning of time without my help. LOL

It's hard to look good when your views are contorted, or, as the mind twists, so twists the body.

This is true!

I am so glad I am a conservative. I really like the company I keep. :-)

LOL. Worry warts anonymous, that’s us.
I don’t know if this is this same momma. From what I have read, it could or couldn’t be. A female can find as well as build a nest. There were two nestings during winter, now this is the first of Spring.

Anna’s hummingbird is the only non-migrating species of hummer.

Really? So, the hummingbirds that stay through the winter here are Anna's Hummingbirds? That's interesting. I didn't know that.

I had a Rufous Hummingbird here for a week or so last year. Thank goodness he moved on. He commandeered the feeder and would let no other birds near it. Here he was an interloper and had the nerve to just take over the feeder! He would sit on a branch about 6 inches away from the feeder and guard it day and night.......and then after about a week, he just left. He was a beautiful reddish-copper colored bird, but what a bully! He looked a lot like this, except his copper chin feathers just lit up in the sun.

Thank you for sharing in the joy of the nesting:). This is a terrific picture of the Rufous, what perfection in the feathering.

I need to go offline for awhile; see all later.

Rofous used to come around in September, but each year, he comes earlier. Last year he was here almost all summer - I had two feeders up - and he would sit between them both - just daring a ruby throat or anna to come near. Then he would DIVE BOMB them! I really thought the other birds were going to starve to death. And he is the smallest of the hummingbirds, I think.

Dita, I have been out today and then my son mowed this evening and I've been out sweeping at the curb. Doesn't that sound fun? Ugh~~

Good news...my hummingbirds have arrived this morning. There was a female, I think, because it had a big fat belly and makes me thinks its ready for babies! Actually, I've never seen one with a fat belly. They're usually just sleek! It was white underneath and the usual pretty green everywhere else. Didn't get to watch too much but I always have the ruby-throated ones and it makes me believe the males have more of the ruby under the neck and belly! Anyway, its exciting! And I am excited over yours nesting again. She's a busy little lady, isn't she? Bet she's worn out, don't you? LOL~~

By the way, I have had a hard time getting around FR this evening. Don't know if anyone else has had trouble or not. Its slow...pictures aren't showing up and when they do, I have to wait and wait for the picture to show. Oh, well it could be my computer...may need to reboot!

Hope you had a wonderful day, Dita!

Let me outta here!
