If you look at a map, we’re the point that sticks out just below Hatteras and just above Wilmington.

I see. You live near Blackbeard's old stomping grounds. Unfortunatley, we didn't get to see any of NC's coastline while we were there. I bet it is beautiful. How fortunate you are to get to live on the coast. I love the ocean.

I did a North Carolina State Presentation on the "A Few of FR's Finest" thread a couple years ago. I did enjoy learning more about your state. I hope I did it justice. :-)

Mmmm, dandelion wine. I've never had it but it sounds so good, especially in the springtime.

Thank you, OESY, GodBlessUSA and Jaycee, for more lovely dandelion pics and poems.

Here is another garden "weed" that grows prolifically here, is very pretty and useful as an herbal tea:

And when the yellow flower appeared, my mother would hold it under my chin to see reflected yellow.... something about butter?

Yep. If you get a yellow reflection under your chin, it meant you like butter. I have the same childhood memory. :-)

I think I see at least three little beaks coming up for food in the nest, but it's hard to tell exactly. I guess as the days progress we will see. I don't have as good a "bird's eye view" of my jays as you did of your hummer family. The nest is probably 6 to 7 feet high in the Oleander, even if I get up on tiptoes I can't see inside.

I just planted 14 bare root roses ;)

Oh, you are going to have a beautiful display of roses this summer!

How's your Jay's nest?

Things are moving right along. Looks like there are at least three little ones in the nest. It's hard to tell for sure. The parents are doing a great job of taking care of their little family. Both momma and daddy are pitching in and doing their part. I love to watch the male come and feed the female then feed the babies. He is taking such good care of his family. :-)

Hi PAL. I sure hope someone is able to come up with an answer for you. I’ve been thinking about you and hoping that these problems had been resolved. Obviously they have not, and I am sorry to hear that. :-(

I have no idea. I guess I have not heard that one. Hopefully someone else has and can answer your question.

I thought with a power of attorney, you have the power to make or unmake decisions. I would certainly look into that. Get the person who did your POA to tell you and you may be able to undue something that was done that is not correct!

Given the placement of the nest, you have gotten some terrific photos. Oh, I hope there ARE 3 babies in there:)

Believe it or not, looks like momma hummer’s getting ready to mate again and use the same nest for the 3rd time this season. Wow.

Now I remember, how it takes 10 days. However, I do not remember the instant pudding mix or the nuts in it. It has been a long time, like I said:)

Old-fashioned me: I have pictures of the last nest on a roll of film that I haven’t finished yet:)....but it is yet to be seen whether any came out good.

Well, if any of them came out and you can scan them or get digital copies, I’d sure love to see them. :-)
