Listen To His Promptings
After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them. —Acts 16:7

On Friday, my day of rest as a pastor, the Holy Spirit prompted me to call a young single mother in our faith community to see if her car had been repaired. I had some reservations about making the call, but I obeyed.

Little did I know that my obedience would help save her life. She said later: "Friday at work I was planning on taking my life; but in a time of need, I believe God was there for me. He had Pastor Williams call me, and just by listening to his voice, I knew that God loved me."

The apostle Paul must have had reservations when the Holy Spirit prompted him and his team not to go into the provinces of Asia and Bithynia. Instead, they felt the Spirit's call to go into Macedonia to preach the good news. In each situation, they obeyed the Spirit's promptings. As a result, Paul and his team were instrumental in giving birth to a new faith community in Philippi (Acts 16:11-15).

As believers in Christ who are indwelt by the Holy Spirit (Eph. 2:22), our desire should be to please Him. May we not grieve the Holy Spirit (Eph. 4:30) by ignoring His gentle promptings. When we obey Him, we might be used by God to lead someone to Christ, to disciple new believers—or even to help save somebody's life.

Holy Spirit, we would hear
Your inner promptings, soft and clear;
And help us know Your still, small voice
So we may make God's will our choice. —D. De Haan

Make the right choice: Obey the Spirit's voice.

Bless Mama Jay’s heart...doing her loving duty!

Its unusual to see three hawks at once, isn’t it? I know the food chain, etc.etc. but it kills me to see them get a bird. I have only witnessed it once in my yard and hubby was here then. I was so upset and he went into the food chain bit! LOL...didn’t make me feel better!

Hi Dita, how cute of ya’ll talking about my bread! By the way, did you smell it? Turned out good...next time will be better though. I may not continue to make it...its so good and I love to eat it (always give some away too) but I just do not need the calories! I have mixed emotions about it!

Hey, I just read the last sentence of your post and my brother said the same thing.

I would say after it is perfectly cool and wrapped well in saran wrap and foil, it would mail perfectly, don’t you?

Nope, it wouldn't have consoled me either.

As far as the hawks go, it looked like two of them were involved in some kind aerial mating dance. The third hawk may have been a rival or a hopeful suitor waiting in the wings. LOL.

It's unusual to see hawks over our town, they stay mainly out in the country and over the foothills.

I am enjoying the unfolding episodes of my little jay family, but part of me wants the process hurried up so that the little ones aren't so vulnerable. I feel responsible for them and I will be very happy when I see they are able to take care of themselves.

Yorkie, mine is loaf pan shaped....that a scrumptious picture of homemade bread! I made the stuff for years when hubby was here. I got a start from a friend at church and just made the first batch. I am going to make a few batches but probably won’t make it long. Too good and too FATTENING!

Scrub Jays

Please note the uniform, half blue and half in grey,
A confusion of the Civil War, ‘cause we’re civil in no way.
We tend to be aggressive, to those around our nest,
So wear your battle helmets. Another route is best.

But after we have raised them, they’re on their own one day,
You wouldn’t think we’d want these brats around us anyway.
They’ll have to find their own nest, and guard it as we did,
But the way we always carried on, they won’t need to keep it hid.

Bless his heart...the shots can upset them sometimes. Since he had not been feeling well before the shot could have affected him more! Hope you all get straightened out soon!

The Dandelions

Upon a showery night and still,
Without a sound of warning,
A trooper band surprised the hill,
And held it in the morning.

We were not waked by bugle-notes,
No cheer our dreams invaded,
And yet, at dawn, their yellow coats
On the green slopes paraded.

We careless folk the deed forgot;
Till one day, idly walking,
We marked upon the self-same spot
A crowd of veterans talking.

They shook their trembling heads and gray
With pride and noiseless laughter;
When, well-a-day! they blew away,
And ne'er were heard of after!

Helen Gray Cone [1859-1934]

Happy Dandelion Day!

Oh, Amy, I think that may be the daddy jay that I photographed when he was a baby!......or it could be the mama jay. I still can't tell them apart, but I do know that one of the parents that are nesting in my Oleander is from the family that was hatched in our lemon tree four years ago. I guess that makes me a grandma to these little hatchlings. LOL

I have company coming tomorrow and a house to clean. I will be gone for awhile. TTYL
