This is a copy of an Email forwarded to all Army Installation Tour Recreation (ITR) Offices, and Key Army Morale Welfare Recreation (MWR) managers at Army Bases worldwide.
On March 29, someone in Vancouver Washington established a "phishing" site at HYPERLINK http://mwr.army-support.com. Many ITR/ITT offices and some Army IT staff received an unsolicited email, on Sunday afternoon.
This is not a legitimate offer, it is not a legitimate site. It gives the appearance of being part of the official Army MWR web site http://www.armymwr.com/, but the other site is not authorized.
This site is in violation of U.S. copy write and trademark laws by its display of the Army MWR logo. Steps are being taken by the US Army Family & MWR Command, to close the site.
In the meantime, if you receive inquires about this web site, please advise that they should not respond to it. The information requested may result in unknown consequences in terms of SPAM, further request for personal information, etc.
As near as we can tell, there are no similar sites at this time claiming to be part of Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard MWR.
If you have computers at home, please inform your family members that the site http://mwr.army-support.com is not a valid site and to stay away from this web page.
I just traded my social security number for a Humvee to be delivered next week. Was that bad?
So long as you have the Hummer you came out ahead.
Thanks....Passed this along to my buddy’s daughter...
Ping.
