Brooke was very awkward trying to dance or even move around while singing. Perhaps when she tried to do it to satisfy the critics desire for trying something new, she got too nervous. She was at her best singing while playing the piano or sitting.

Right. Besides, Elaine on Seinfeld, she was the goofiest looking woman dancing I've ever seen! However, what really makes up for her lack of dancing skill is she can strike a certain pose and just end up looking gorgeous!

After watching her AI Extra interview (see post #6678) and reading others on line, you learn more about her fragile side. She mentions never being encouraged to sing as a youth or even thinking that she had a nice voice. Also, she said that her breakdown at the end was about the bond she had with the other Idols. I think the encouraging words from Carly Simon meant the world to her.

As a very emotional person myself, who cries at the drop of a hat, I would have reacted the same way. It's funny, after reading other Idol forums where everyone joked about her meltdowns--the majority on Thursday said they cried for Brooke that night and that they were really sad to see her go. Go figure.
