After watching her AI Extra interview (see post #6678) and reading others on line, you learn more about her fragile side. She mentions never being encouraged to sing as a youth or even thinking that she had a nice voice. Also, she said that her breakdown at the end was about the bond she had with the other Idols. I think the encouraging words from Carly Simon meant the world to her.
As a very emotional person myself, who cries at the drop of a hat, I would have reacted the same way. It's funny, after reading other Idol forums where everyone joked about her meltdowns--the majority on Thursday said they cried for Brooke that night and that they were really sad to see her go. Go figure.
