I really enjoyed tonight’s show! Simon and Randy were kinda harsh tonight. I hate to say it but Cook(who I like the most) was one of the weakest tonight. :( Overall pretty good. Thanks for the thread jonny.

Generally, a night for "safe" songs all around. The one contestant who really needed to shine, Kristy Lee, did, and everyone else generally turned in as-expected performances.
- David A. - He got a little swallowed by by the band, and it was one of his weaker technical performances, but he did a good job connecting with his song and the audience. Talk about getting one "in the wheelhouse"... inspirational songs! A-
- Kristy Lee - Technically, the best she's ever sounded to me. I think she's starting to really figure out what to sing, and it's helping her. A lot. She still isn't getting the emotional connection to the songs that I'd like to see, though. A-
- Jason - Offbeat, interesting (although much like every other Jason Castro song), this "lighter" song was a nice breath of fresh air on a night when so many "serious" songs were being sung. B+
- Brooke - Solid, dependable, unoriginal. I can't make any complaints about how she sang the song (and for a change, she didn't hide behind a piano or guitar), but there was nothing there I couldn't get from the Carole King version. B-
- Michael - I just didn't find it particularly convincing. He should not have attempted the high notes at the end; they didn't mesh with the way he sang the rest of it. B-
- David C. - Really not his best choice of song or performance, but he can afford to cruise this week. C-
- Syesha - Diana sang it better than Fantasia in the first place, and Fantasia sang it better than Syesha. The vibrato was overdone, and the various sections of the song didn't match each other very well. D+
- Carly - Over-ambitious choice... this was literally Freddie Mercury's swan song, and it would have been near-impossible to pull off even if she hadn't completely lost the pitch right at the end. At least the makeup and wardrobe were improvements. D
No change in the overall rankings this week.
