Thanks :)
I shouldn't complain though. This little brush with liberalism doesn't compare with what you have to endure in California every day :-/
Yeah, our Marxist legislature spends all its time trying to figure out ever more ingenious ways to tax us into the ground, tie us ever more firmly to Mexico, and otherwise screw us royally. Although I can't do it until at least next spring, I'm seriously thinking of moving to a little town called Kanab, Utah. My cousin and best friend lives in Salt Lake City. Kanab is about 200 miles south of SLC, but we'd be closer than we are now.
One of the nation's most unique animal sanctuaries is seven miles north of Kanab. It's a place of last resort for domestic and wild animals. They've helped some of our soldiers rescue dogs in Iraq and bring them to home to the soldiers' families here in the U.S. They also rescue a lot of the animals left stranded by natural disasters in the U.S. I'd like to be part of such efforts in some way, even if it's only as a volunteer foster home for the dogs until they could get settled in a family. Of couse, it will depend on whether or not I could find a job in such a small town or at the sanctuary.
I love California and have a real connection to the Pacific. But Kanab is only 400 miles from L.A., so it would be easy for me to visit once or twice a year. As long as I could get out to Catalina Island once a year or so, I'd be happy.
But this is all just a maybe and in the future. Depends very much on my getting a job here soon so that I could rebuild my savings.
