Next year they should have a couple of Pop Quiz nights. The singers will randomly be given a song from (for example): The Great American Songbook Top 40s of the 90s Number 1s
and they would have to perform on the spot. Too many of these contestants dont seem to have a broad and deep grasp of Pop music.
Holy Moly, that's a GREAT idea. Go email Simon right now, I'll bet he'll do that kinda thing in a heartbeat!

Look, we all know there's nothing wrong about a father helping his son succeed. We see this sort of thing every summer day around a little league baseball park. However, this is a professional compitition where you can take a kid who has natural talent, a fantastic voice, and can sing his ass off, (although Archuleta is boring as can be) and ruin him because dear old, frustrated musician dad tries to coach the kid into oblivion.
Lay off pops!

It suprises me that Daultry has only sold half the music Clarkson has! Although, Daughtry hasn't had the same number of years under his belt, so maybe he ends up equaling or even out selling both Clarkson and Underwood in the same amount of time.
Hicks, unfortunately is in a class by himself. He certainly is not AI material because eventhough he's unique he just doesn't have enough of what it takes. You have to be contemporary today to sell music.
Thanks for the numbers, interesting to say the least.

Apparently selling an estimated 800,000 copies of a debut album worldwide without the benefit of top 40 radio play is the new definition of "failure".Well, apparently somebody's got their numbers wrong according to this post. #8939.
I'm telling you Taylor's music is boring and not contemporary enough to make it, I don't care how many loyal fans he has...Maybe he can do better in Grease!
IMO, the reason David Cook is great is not because he's a fantastic singer, it's because he can arrange these older songs and make them sound good in today's time. Music is all about the genre fad in the current age.
It has to have cultural relevance. .

im not a fan of the group numbers where all the constestants prance about on stage and take turns singing. something about it just gives me the creeps. Me too.
Those group songs would be so bad if they sang instead of dancing all over the place like the Pips.

Oh wow! Normally Paula hides her age really well. Not in that picture. I hope that was at the end of the night.

They have a show coming out where the women from Rock of Love, Flavor of Love and the guys from I Love New York all compete. I'm really not sure what they are competing for, but I'm sure it's something slutty.

I can't believe Cowell has the b*lls to think HE should still be a judge but Paula and Randy should get the boot. They have now become a hilarious TV icon as a "team," with Randy's shtick, Paula's tipsy compliments, and Simon bringing serious criticism at its most abrasive.
And even the annoying Ryan seems to fit the show. Who else would say "THIS. Is AmERican Idol!" It would be like Carson replacing Ed McMahon!
To: Miss Didi
The third song will be whatever ghastly song wins the Idol Songwriters Contest. LMAO!!
Make sure you set those TiVos and DVRs! Tune in for the American Idol finale this Wednesday (May 21st, 2008) at 8/7c and keep your eyes peeled for Mikalah!
Lord help us all.

I don’t mind the giving to charity. In fact, I think it’s nice But they can do it better and far less offensively than the beg-a-thon.
Take one week’s show, in the middle of the season, and have the Idols all perform live at the Kodak, and have every seat’s admission go to charity. That Idol concert here in L.A. was sold out at Ticketmaster and now the good seats are going for upwards of $300, just since yesterday when they went on sale.
Oh, and send no one home that week!

I know, I know, I need to join the 21st century. One of these days. :)Hey you're not alone in the 20th century. This broadband stuff is all a fad, I tells ya! :)
I don't know anything about iTunes. Never used them. But I do know about downloading songs with dial-up. It's not fast, LOL. But it's not too bad either. For me it takes about 30 minutes to download a 5 minute song (and that's the way I likes it! ;)
The best site to download music, IMO, is Amazon.com. All you need is an account with them. You don't have to download any software or players (though they offer a player if you want it). And the songs are YOURS once they're downloaded--no DRM crap (digital rights management) that will keep you from copying or sharing the songs.

Well if that is the case Tay-Tay blew his own payday. He made that decision not AI. AI and 19 have done a well for Clarkson and Underwood so it would seem to be smart move starting off to go with what works. If he did not want to be a part of 19 then why should they have an obigation to shell out a ton of money in making another record and promoting it for an act that want give a return investment. Just basic business sense there.
