What was advertised to be "the best Idol yet" has left us all very disappointed.

I've come to realize that when they tell us, "It's the best Idol EVER!" it really means, "Get ready, this one blows!"

It's like when they used to advertise, "A very special Blossom you can't miss!"

Your post is right on the money. He doesn’t seem capable of doing anything but lounge singing.

We think Disney will sign Archuleta, train him up for teen movies. He does, after all, have a great “instrument.”

That may be true, but what about his UPPER REGISTER??? /sarc

I know I am alone on this but I've been in a bad mood all day over the Jason trashing...so over the top in their dislike for the kid. I mean, we get it already—you want him to go home so it doesn't ruin your little scripted finale. In contrast to the constant love for Monchichi’s magic, Syesha’s Broadway and Cook's creations...well, Dreads was unique in his own special way. I loved him because he wasn't trying so hard.

The judges were way too harsh on him last night. They went on and on, and then Simon brought it up again during David A’s performance. Enough already. Jason is unique among this group of performers, and obviously his style has attracted a pretty large fan base. I’ve downloaded several of his songs from iTunes and enjoy his voice and style.

I know what you mean. They totally discount that he’s made it to the top 5. Do you know how many times he’s been to the bottom 2? I can’t remember, but I know Syesha is there every week.

Don’t lose faith. This is usually the week 4 shocker. ;-)

Do you think someone that did work hard and remembered their lyrics should go home instead of him?

You nailed it regarding this years so-called “best season ever.”

Hopefully next year we’ll have some talent.

Don’t get me wrong. I like David Cook and think he’s got a lot of talent. I hope he wins. But this entire season has been pretty much as lame and boring as a McCain campaign rally.

If forgetting lyrics gets someone booted, Monchichi, Brooke and Carly should have all gone before they actually did (or will).

You are not alone : ) I like Castro, too. I like him because he doesn’t act like American Idol is the pinnacle of his life experience. Maybe he’ll turn out okay if he has a grasp on the ridiculousness of this show.

That was only HALF of the question.

Do you think that someone that worked hard and did remember their lyrics should leave instead of him? It's a pretty straight up question, yes or no.

I actually enjoyed Jason's 2nd [Bob Dylan] song very much.

IMO, Syesha has the best stage presence of the lot of them.

And she's GREAT! And HOT!

That's not what I meant...he's not the typical Idol “I want this soooooooo bad, it's all I have ever dreamed of...” type. I don't see him as calculating or trying too hard to win over aanyone's approval. Heck, the way they treated him two weeks ago with Paula's gaffe, no wonder he just did his thing last night. And by the way, Carly and David A., have also messed up their lyrics.

Yes, they have and so did Brooke, at least once. We all know that each week someone has to leave. This week happens to be his turn. What would you prefer to do, send someone home that actually did better than him?

From that Billboard article I posted:

Is your family musical too? When did you realize you could sing?

My whole family is musical, starting with my grandfather on my dad's side. He was making his way to Mexico City to make an album when he met my grandma in Colombia and he ended up settling there and having eight kids. I have five uncles and they all play guitar and sing. Anytime the family is together, they pull out guitars and start singing, so I was always around it. But I never sang.

I grew up playing drums and I never would sing, just because singing is such a vulnerable thing. If you're playing an instrument, you can mess up and it's like, “Oops,” but if you're singing, it's like your voice, you know, and it's just intimidating to me, so I never [sang] until a few years ago.

How did you decide to audition for "American Idol"

Well, it took a while [for me to start singing]. Still to this day I'm not that confident. I had a little recording setup and I started recording myself. For a good year, I hated everything I recorded, vocally at least. And then I started showing some of my friends and once I started getting the [reaction] “Wow,” I was like, “Ooh, maybe I'm singing well.” Last summer, I thought “I'll show my parents, see what they think,” and that was scary. And they couldn't believe it. They said, “We always knew it,” because they always begged me to sing. That it was about the time the commercials were going on TV for the “American Idol” tryouts and they said, “Why don't you go do that?” My dad went with me and that first audition was the scariest because I [had] performed [only] about five times in public before the first audition.

I’m very musical. Especially after eating baked beans.

And what if I did? I don't care for Syesha and would love a Jason/David/David show. Last I checked, we were all are entitled to our Idol opinions on this thread.
