When Ryan introduced David he specifically said here is David Cook singing Chris Cornells version of Billie Jean, so for the second week in a row David DID NOT take credit for the arrangement he made sure the actual arranger was credited. It was also a case where the Chris Cornell version differed so much from the original that it was almost unrecognizable as Jackson's song. This constitutes "significant authorship" and deserves a nod. Unlike the ridiculous Elanor Rigby controversy where simply playing the song with rocked up guitars somehow trampled on the toes of some obscure band who (were in a long line of obscure bands who) also played the song with rocked up guitars?? Pfffft.

I half listened and half watched. I definitely get a different impression just listening. The really short boy sounds terrible to me. So does the Aussie.
If you have this recorded try it.

Hi, MOgirl :)
Am I the only one that thought that he looked stoned?
Castro? He did seem a bit "mellow" didn't he? :)

Darn, wish I had recorded it. Little David was not good tonight...too bad his screaming gaggle of gals will keep him safe.

Yamagouchi wins.I predict she gets "Cheetah'ed". Either she will not get the votes because people assume she will win, or they may deliberately not vote because it is almost unfair to have a skater compete. It is so close to dance that she could do this in her sleep.

We are back to full mind-meld. LMAOLOL! I was about to say that ;)

If you watch next week, just close your eyes when they are part way in the song. I know this is idol and more than just signing but some of the signing is not that good.

She's graceful - that's her figure skating. However, the footwork is different and she's never worked with a partner.
Still, her background does give her an advantage, but her drive and attention to detail make the real difference.
To: retrokitten
I vote we give Paula one of those helmets that hold two beer cans and straws. Then she is free to do her sea lion like clapping. LMAO!!

Usually I’m typing away when they’re singing...that must be why so many times I don’t go crazy over the performances because I’m just listening.

Your comments about Yamaguchi are spot on. I am an iceskater, strictly amateur, but nevertheless I can attest that there is a world of difference between ice skating and dancing.

The recap is actually taped from the morning “practice” performance, so the clips are from the first version and sometimes VERY different.
Two weeks ago (maybe 3) the morning best performance was one of the worst and so the recap rendition was...odd...because it clearly didn’t fit.
To: Jrabbit
What did she say?? She went to the bathroom before singing??And Seacrest asked: "Did you flush?"
File that exchange under THINGS I NEVER WANTED TO HEAR.
