If in your world judges don't need to be impartial, like I said, that's fine with me.

Dont watch it if you don’t like it.

I like it. And to me, the real outcome is what happens in the careers of these kids.

The beauty of this show is watching young people grow and get better, trying to pick who will be a success. The outcome is not as important as the process.

For instance, Daughtry didn’t win but I knew and think most poeple knew he would be successful. Without the show, I don’t know.

And seeing new talent, seeing how they do, seeing the results is quite lovely. Every time I see Carrie Underwood, I get a thrill knowing we saw how she developed.

The voting part, the “contest part”, is secondary to me and I am sure to alot of people.

They're not "judges" in the traditional sense because starting some 10 weeks ago, they don't get to decide the result; the people dialing phones and sending text messages do. The certainly have influence on the result, but anyone who thinks they're in any way objective clearly isn't paying attention -- Randy's in the tank for Archuleta, Paula likewise for David C, and Simon just wants whoever will sell the most records, while keeping the rating up.

You know Clint, I think you have issues with “fair”. The entertainment business is not “fair”. Life isn’t “fair”. Even being born isn’t “fair”,,some get a better deal than others. Dying isn’t “fair”, some hang around longer than others. Taxes aren’t “fair”.

If you expect “fair”, you are going to be saying thinks suck alot in life.

Ditto. And I think Simon is the fairest of all. It comes down to what happens after the show.

I get a kick out of thinking, what would Elvis or Willie Nelson have done on the show.

There is something in success in the music world that is not predictable, some quality the person has to have to be a success and that cannot be measured and sometimes not even be seen for a while.

I love AI.

OMG. It’s not the supreme court (talk about rigged!). It’s a TELEVISION show that, more often then not, sucks.

Listening to Paula’s incoherent ramblings it wouldn’t shock me at all if someone wrote things for her to say. “You have so many colors!” really doesn’t help them sing better.

Oh yes, and let's not forget the fundamental AI truism #1: Anyone listening to Paula as a source for legitimate, constructive critique is an idiot.

Oh I've been paying attention alright, the "judges" have been in the bag for many contestants over the years. But they do so under the pretext of being impartial whether its true or not. And when that's exposed the AI flacks hide their heads in the sand all the while lowering their values, apparently that's relative for some, of fair play to justify their own short comings intead of being outraged.

The judges biases have been there all along, anyone can see that. But when their credibility is challenged and some look the other way that says more about them than the judges.

What credibility? You just said "the judges biases have been there all along, anyone can see that". Challenging the judges' credibility where none ever existed says more about the challenger than the judges. What is the point in being outraged? I don't expect the judges (commentators at this point) to be unbiased anywhere along the process. I'm not looking the other way. I'm laughing at them, with them. For me, it's just a tv show where some very talented folks play the odds at becoming successful in music.

If the show was rigged, Daughtry would have won in Season 5.
You've got that backwards. The fact he didn't win suggests it's rigged.

Oh that's some cute word Aikido, when proof is found it's the challenger whose credibility is in question?

Perfect example of the kind of character it takes to look the other way, thanks for the demonstration.

Oh my goodness....you really are upset, aren’t you? Bless your heart, AI is just a TV show. Just a little bit of fluff during the week to escape from real life stress. Perhaps you need to relax a wee bit. Join us for the fun of the show.....it really is fun! :-)

Neil Diamond is pretty cool...but last night was karaoke at best, imo.....and is it me, or did it look like Chikeze was on the drums in the band last night? Speaking of which, I still wish he was on the show...and Amanda too. I miss those guys. LOL

Yeh yeh...HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS ON THE TOP 5:

Jason Castro - "Forever in Blue Jeans" and "September Morn"

Forever in blue jeans and forever in dread locks...once again, you forever sound the same on every song.  It just doesn't do anything for me.  And apparently, Paula agrees, since she thought she heard you sing twice before you did.....hopefully you'll be gone before a September morn.

David Cook - "I'm Alive" and "All I Really Need Is You"
I'm alive and now all I really need is another aspirin.  I've said it before...a couple songs you've done are ok, but overall, I am just NOT diggin your style of music or the sound of your voice.  Others obviously enjoy you, but I find your songs monotonous and annoying, too much like today's style, and I can't stand today's music, which is probably why your music bothers me so much.  Although you do know how to make the songs your own and sound different than the original artist, so I will give you that.  But get over yourself already....you're not all that.  And get a haircut, or at least a hair brush.

Brooke White - I'm a Believer" and "I Am ... I Said"
I'm a believer that this version sucked.  It was SO karaoke and all I could think of was Donkey from Shrek.  I am.....sure you'll be in the bottom if not voted off...... I said voted off.

David Archuleta - "Sweet Caroline" and "America"

Sweet Caroline!!! America loves you and I can't for the life of me figure out why....you are SO annoying and all your music, fast or slow, sounds the same on every song.  It's predictable, boring and forgettable. At least you stopped singing songs with "messages".

And by the way....it's "they'RE coming to America"...not "THEY coming to America"....

Syesha Mercado - "Hello Again" and "Thank the Lord for the Night Time"
Hello again!  This first song wasn't so good for you...but thank the Lord for the night time, because you did SO much better on this song.  I thought you sounded pretty dang good and it suited you well.

The contestants this year are so lackluster and I'm so bored already with this season. I don't have any favorite to win this thing, since I'm not really liking the remaining 5...but since AI is a popularity contest, I see David C and David A competing for top spot, with David C probably taking it, since his style and sound is SO today's crap.

Hopefully next year will be better. As I continually tell MrL9, who constantly harps that it's not about the talent or who actually can sing, but who is most popular...while this is true, it doesn't matter if this show is rigged or not, as obvious as it is...winning the show, does not make the singer better or more popular.  Case in point....Daughtry......Aiken......Pickler....all doing better than the Idol that did win for that season.  It's more for entertainment, than who actually wins, imo.  And probably why Sanjaya stayed on so long last year, too.

Now I'm looking forward to "So You Think You Can Dance" (starting May 22)...now there's a talent show.

...when proof is found...

Why is proof is needed? You yourself said "the judges biases have been there all along, anyone can see that". I agree with you. The difference is that I'm not up in arms about it. It's just a tv show meant to entertain me. For me, there is need to challenge the judges' credibility when they never had any. To do so is absurd. You obviously feel much, much more emotional about the entire thing. Betrayed maybe. Perhaps this was a world shattering event for you. I don't know. Whatever it is, I imagine you'll work it out.

At any rate, Fox will likely make lemonade out of this.

Except last week, when Paula was the only one to speak the truth about Restartgate '08.
