More likely when she is at the drive thru she spends so much time stopping and re starting the order that the restaurant closes before she gets the food. That is so funny!

Thanks for those links. They seem more personable after watching that. I loved the Cook and Brooke segment. :)

Don’t know if you have read the inkheart trilogy books yet( well actually there are 2, the third one comes out in November). They are very good and the film comes out in January. Next to J.K. Rowling, Funke is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors

President Bush: I appreciate being joined by Melinda Doolittle, of American Idol. (Applause.) I've gotten to know Melinda because Melinda is not only a great talent, Melinda has got a huge heart. And it's interesting, isn't it, that she has garnered all this publicity and acclaim, all to channel it into helping other people. And I love your example and I thank you for your leadership. (Applause.)

Standing beside Bush is Melinda Doolittle, a former American Idol finalist and spokeswoman for Malaria No More.

Seeking to capitalize on the popularity of American Idol, Senator John McCain had Carly Smithson's husband brand him with a new tattoo.

I agree and still say she screamed and messed up the lyrics on that song. I think “Carly's story” (the struggle, the anguish, the pleasing Simon) just didn't win the hearts of America. And many Americans like their Idol to be American.

And many Americans like their Idol to be American. I think so, too. I wonder how many Americans have competed in the British show Pop Idol. Maybe it wouldn't seem so odd if it weren't 'American' Idol.

It never ceases to amaze me how this much-maligned President makes friends across such a wide, wide array of people from so many walks of life. Melinda is very talentend, but like Michael Johns this year, she didn't fit the demographic profile of most AI voters. But I think she'll have a fine career anyway.
By the way, I think you'll enjoy this photo. It's of the Pope shaking hands with Kelly and slipping her a small gift:

In addition to Kelly offering her talents for the Pope's youth rally, and Melinda's charitable efforts with President and Mrs. Bush, Ruben Studdard is doing gospel music. Carrie, Kelly, Josh Gracin and Kellie Pickler have gone to overseas to entertain our troops. And Clay Aiken does a lot of charitable work for kids. Nice to see.

What has most turned me off this season is the obvious pimping of certain contestants. The judges are too inconsistent in their critiques, esp. with regard to the “karaoke” or “not working outside your comfort zone” dissing. David A sounds exactly the same every week, but it’s praised to high heaven. Blech! If they are so busy trying to steer America to vote a certain way, the whole concept of the show becomes questionable and ultimately a waste of time to watch.
