Shades of Papa McPee. Remember when McPee's dad blasted the judges during a commercial break and after the commercial the judges all sang a different tune and praised KatPee? I wonder if the judges remember that too, and if that is why they seldom say anything bad about Archuleta's performances and always praise him as the second coming. Add to that the fact that he is still a minor and they would have to deal with his father for everything, makes me think that they are probably hoping inside that he doesn't win. Just a feeling.
Carly Smithson dishes on ‘American Idol’, prior professional experience
As the latest female finalist to be shown the door, Carly Smithson thinks American Idol’s seventh season has turned into a popularity contest that is benefiting the boys.
“Women vote for this show. It’s obvious, and they vote for the boys,” Smithson told reporters during a Thursday conference call. “The boys are adorable. I definitely feel like the girls had more of a struggle this year with trying to get the popularity vote. I think the boys are definitely charming the females a lot. I think it was definitely a bit of a struggle for the ladies.”

Did you notice that they didn’t do the call in segment of the show this week? Hopefully they realized how fake it all looked.
Quite all right. I had gotten curious as to what type of new cd he was putting out. I was very dismayed to see he has a duet with a dipsy chit on it! I won't be buying that cd!
You’re most welcome. I appreciate that very much :) Thank you.
Do you suppose Brooke got counseling after the show?
“I definitely feel like the girls had more of a struggle this year with trying to get the popularity vote.”
How Clintonesque of her! It’s all someone else’s fault. I bet she never gave it a thought that MAYBE this year the guys are better singers??
Everyone I know says it’s going to be one of the 2 Davids (Cook or Archuleta) this year.
Although Gnarly nay have a point regarding SanJayson. Who’s voting for that guy??
Yes, they have interesting voices and performance skills, but not enough, imo, to make either Brooke or Jason a star.
Jason really is the personality kid. Adorable. But not the kind of talent that holds fans for long.
David Cook said “peruse” ~ he actually READS!
Says he likes to read about what women want, but a lot of good it’s done him because he’s still single.
Not for long, I’ll bet. What women love most (this one at least) is a sense of humor.
LOS ANGELES Carly Smithson might be the first American Idol contestant to be voted off the show for blasphemy.
Online chat boards devoted to American Idol have been abuzz since Ms. Smithson performed the title song from Jesus Christ Superstar the 1970 rock opera, which many Christians consider offensive on Tuesdays episode. Ms. Smithson received the fewest votes of the six remaining contestants following her Tuesday performance. Her elimination was announced on Wednesday nights episode. The weeks performances were drawn from the works of Andrew Lloyd Webber, who wrote Jesus Christ Superstar with Tim Rice.

Idol Song Choice Courts Controversy and Finds It; Singer Is Voted Off
The effect of Carly’s song was like a parent screaming “BE POLITE!!!” to their children, or screaming, “TALK SOFTLY!!!”
The tone must fit the message.
History of the rock musical notwithstanding, it was horribly grating
to hear Carly screeching “ JESUS CHRIST” in such a raw way about the Prince of Peace. It appeared crass and profane.
Maybe America threw out the baby with the bathwater.
At least we won’t be treated to her hubby’s freakish tats anymore. Notice he was NOT captured in the shot of her family at the end?
Her arm tat never bothered me, but his face tats ~ ugh.
I thought she sounded like she was screaming all through that song as well. Yeah, I didn’t mind her tats, but her husband’s face, well, that was a bit too much.
Sheepdog...Ha-ha! Leaning over like that she does look like one!! A skinny sheepdog, but one the less.
I've always thought she favored a poodle myself.
There's just too much in this article that tells me indeed "Jeff" is an overbearing stage parent when it comes to his "musical consulting" for his son.
10 to 1 this guy is trying to live HIS musical/in the spotlight apirations thru David.
And on this note, it reminds me to ask someone, anyone to please take Brooke to the nearest BurgerKing and get her 3 or 4 extra bacon Whoppers, with a large fry, extra large shake, and sugered up soda, supersize everything, and shove it down her throat.
Doesn't that girl eat???
I think you’re right about Mr. Archuleta. I think he was trying to do damage control.
