Your saying the only reason that Taylor is not number 1 from coast to coast and spent 1000 weeks at the top of the Casey Kasem count down is Simon. All I am saying is it is the buying pulblic that determines an artist future not critics. PR helps but in the end it is the music that does the talking. Even in a niche sitution you have got to have something that people want to hear and hit that repeat button on.
I didn’t say that was the only reason.
HICKS FINDS NICHE

‘AMERICAN Idol” winner Taylor Hicks has finally landed with a record label more in-tune with his personality.
Vanguard Records, the longtime purveyor of jazz, blues and folk, has agreed to distribute Hicks’ next album, which he plans to cut on his own label, Modern Whomp Records.
The disc is expected to be comprised mostly of Hicks’ pre-”Idol” tunes and is slated for release in August.
Hicks is currently appearing as the “Teen Angel” in Broadway’s “Grease.”
This nothing will hopefully just fade away. He was nothing before AI, but now has to rely on pre-Idol music? Seems like the producers want nothing more to do with him. Chris Daughtry has been laughing all the way to the bank.
You don’t think he should have his pre Idol music professionally released?
What about big artists that put out previously released music in ‘biggest hits’ albums? They shouldn’t bother either?
It just might be that he wants to get those professionally released since they were selling so well during Idol. Not to mention the fact that the guy selling them was doing so illegaly and Hicks had to make him stop.
And what’s your claim to fame? Drive by posting? Not that you are not welcome, anyone is welcome. Its just odd that your first and only post to the thread so far is to bad mouth a previous idol winner.
I think the guy stinks. Kelly Clarkson-Talented, Reuben Studdard-Dull, but a great voice. Fantasia-Not great, but at least has personality. Carrie Underwood-Gorgeous and telented. David Cook-Best Idol winner to date...
Sorry-IMO Taylor Hicks is an annoying wannabe, bar talent.
Taylor was dropped from his label, not the other way around. If he was so talented, he would have been selling his previous material before hand. Even David Cook’s material was selling like hotcakes during his stint on Idol.
I didn’t think this was an American Idol forum, but maybe you can be sure not to post in any other threads here.
