As for myself, I scarcely read the recipes in the doctors' and dentists' offices any more.....and if I do, I don't have to surreptiously tear them out, LOL.
Why? Because everything nowadays is Tex-Mex recipes with smatterings of Thai, Indian, Lower Antilles, Northern Antarctica and Western Anorexia recipes featuring weird spices and herbs found only in the United Nations building deli.
I'm a middle westerner raised on hearty soups, beef, pork, ham and poultry, potatoes and unadulterated gravy, good breads and rolls slathered with real butter, fattening desserts and gooey pastries.
My cooking is middle-west gourmet, down-home and delicious......and my family and guests always seem relieved that I'm not serving non-gluten tacos stuffed with low-carb hot peppers covered with a tequila-worm sauce resting on a bed of shredded marijuana greens.
Bon apetite!
Leni
Welcome to you.
You will find your kind of recipes throughout the thread and if I appear to lean toward the mexican style of recipes, it might be related to the fact that I was born in Texas and have lived all my life in the west.
But I also like your kind of cooking.
My goal in starting this thread was survival, and also frugal recipes, the oriental and mexicans do a lot of frugal cooking that is good.
Please share your recipes with us also, this is not a thread for me to be the only poster.....
