Great choice! I would also like to see Burroughs' John Carter on Mars series, but the biggest money maker would be "Space Willies" and Bruce Willis would make the perfect hero.

Six hours of people talking? As much as I enjoyed them myself, I’m hard-pressed to see how you’d get a decent movie out of them. OTOH, in the 8 or 9 editions of “The Year’s Best Science Fiction” that I have I could find seveal dozen short stories that would make excellent sci-fi movies, with plots that wouldn’t require 6 hours to explore, or overly tax the viewer to follow. But judging by what gets made in Hollywood these days, anything more sophisticated than a comic book aimed at 9 year olds isn’t going to get made into a movie.

That was one of my favorires, but it seems better suited to something like a mini-series. Another I would like to see as a movie is Red Mars, by Kim Stanley Robinson. A real solid sci-fi novel.

Only if they first shoot the guy that made the so-called "Isaac Asimov's Nightfall" movie. It was quite probably the worst adaptation of any written story to the silver screen.
