Message to the FRiberal RINOs: McCain is YOUR Fault!

To all of you FRiberals out there, and that means all of you Rooty Rooters and Romneyites, it's your fault that the GOP is almost for certain stuck with McCain as the nominee. Now, I don't mean those of you who voted for Romney on Super Tuesday in an effort to split the vote, but the rest of you are culpable.

Conservative FReepers have spent the past year listening to the likes of you tell us that conservatives have "had their foot on the neck" of the GOP for too long. We were told that all that mattered was someone who was strong on terror. We were told that we needed someone with strong name recognition. We were told that generally the GOP decides whose "turn it is" and then nominates that person. We were told that we needed someone who can get independent votes. We were told that ANY Republican would nominate strict constructionists to the Federal bench. We were told that winning was all that mattered.

Now, some of you who said this were supporting Rooty, some of you were supporting Romney. But you were all pretty much saying the same thing: you preferred your candidates to a conservative. Some of you even got so upset with conservative FReepers that you ran away to start a RINO forum

Well, guess what? You were successful, though not in the way you thought you would be. It looks like it's McCain's "turn." But don't worry, McCain is a war hero and strong on terrorism (as long as we don't actually take terrorists into custody or try to keep them from crossing into the United States through open borders), he says he can get independents to vote for him, he says he will appoint constructionists, and most important, he has name recognition.

So, if your real agenda was to destroy the GOP, you very well may have succeeded. If your agenda was to create a "Democrat Light" party, you have almost certainly succeeded. If your agenda was to keep the Democrats out of the White House, you have probably failed.

But regardless of what your agenda was, you have harmed the United States of America -- I just hope it's not permanent.

I agree with you that we are in bad shape. I guess it’s our fault for not having a true conservative candidate to start with. Rudy and Romney got such a headstart, and the MSM kept up with their garbage. It has been a crazy year, but I believe McCain is better than Rudy, or Romney. That isn’t saying much because I had no respect for either of them.

On the positive side, we might look to the '08 congressional elections. The best case scenario is that November yields a Republican majority in the House with a strong conservative bloc. In that case, at least Congress would be able to gridlock a Clinton-Obama-McCain--all three liberals, in my opinion--presidency for two years, just in time for a midterm election.

While it might be a best-case scenario, I admit it is still flawed. Clinton, Obama, or McCain with a Democrat House and Senate is just downright frightening.

Seldom did the public, who don't read FR, hear the name Hunter. And I put it squarely on the fact that he is strongest on the Border, while most of the rest are feeding us lip service on the border. And Hunters position on China.

And looking back, we should have known better. 2008 is the Year of the Rat in the Chinese calendar; we should have expected a triad of bamboo chewing, liberal pander bears.

Were these candidates pandas in a Beijing zoo, they would be given new names. Madam Rodham, being a bit of a cackling hen and bird of the Alinsky feather, would be dubbed Wing-Wing. Barack Obama, in his content-free sermons and monotonous hymns, relying upon feel-good words and platitudes, has been aptly-named Sing-Sing. McCain, as the handlers have decided, is Ding-Ling. I think you can figure that one out.

None of them have addressed the threat of China, on an economic or national security level. Duncan Hunter was the only man to take a sensible approach to the matter--and he's endorsed McCain since dropping out of the presidential race.

He didn’t endorse McCain. He did Huckabee, because of the issue of Judges, and that issue alone.

I’ve decided I can’t vote for McCain. I can vote for Huckster because he’s at least a socon. I said long ago that I wouldn’t vote for tootyfruityrudy. I never really made up my mind about Mitt, leaning against voting for him, and now it doesn’t matter.

I won’t be sitting out the election, just writing in Duncan Hunter if the nominee is unacceptable. 100% republican ticket, so the RINOs should be happy.

I think that instead of attacking eachother and trying to determine who to blame for McCain being the likely Republican nominee we should instead try to agree on what conservatives should do now. Personally, I think we should recruit a strong conservative to run on a third party ticket. Maybe we could take over the Constitution Party like Buchanon took over the Reform party in 2004. Does anyone have any thoughts on a serious conservative that we might be able to persuade to run on a third party ticket? There is enough dissatisfaction among conservatives that I think we might actually have a chance of at least making a respectable showing. Especially if Mayor Bloomburg jumps in as well and makes it a four way race.

If we get nothing else out of this election cycle, at least we are rid of most of the RINO harpies.

What you are dealing with is a Democrat Party dominated by aging New Leftists. The New Left wants little in the way of a military, are hostile to police, and want military spending almost all diverted to social spending. New Leftists support imposing a different morality than traditional Western philosophy and the Judeo-Christian moral tradition.

The Republican Party is dominated by old fashioned “Guns and Butter” FDR/JFK/LBJ liberals. They want a big military and a high level of domestic policing. They don’t care about moral/social issues at all, but want to leave them to the New Leftists in the Democratic Party, along with the social spending programs. The Guns and Butter crowd will give the New Leftists their butter, and their “New Morality,” but demand the big military, and absolute discretion at using the military. Like the New Left, the Constituion is elastic, stretched here and there to meet their policy needs. They like being “pragmatic” with the New Left about social spending and social issues, but will not compromise about war making. That is the only issue on which they draw a distinct line in the sand and will not compromise in order to draw Democrat voters to the GOP.

There is no party for traditional Conservatives, who are deliberately confused with “Guns and Butter” Liberals.

You're correct. It sounded odd at the time, and given the numerous endorsements from guys who I wouldn't have expected to endorse McCain, I must have mixed them up.

I don't know, I'm still considering Hunter as a write-in candidate in the worst-case scenario.

Hypothetically, if McCain picks Hunter as his VP choice, what is one to do?
