2.342, 11 Hertz, paddle number 755 none of which are Hurley numbers. It is almost like they are deliberately avoiding putting the Hurley numbers in there so we will not try to find a connection.

Huh? 2.342 -> 23, 42

[CHANDLEY PRICE]
mid 30s to early 40s. Female. She is tough, no-nonsense and beautiful in an unadorned way. She is a therapist by profession and yet could benefit from some therapy herself. The qualities that make her a leader and effective at seeing into other people also cause her problems in her own life -- she can be overly controlling and obsessive. Her strength of personality is undeniable. GUEST STAR/RECURRING

Here is the latest Doc Jensen tease for tonights episode. Jensen talks to Damon Lindelof and clears a few things up from last weeks episode, The Constant, as well.

THE TEASE!
A dollop of tasty info designed to whet your appetite for tonight's episode of Lost, the sixth episode of this fantastic fourth season, a Juliet-centric flashback outing called ''The Other Woman.'' Executive producer Carlton Cuse was gracious enough to spill the following:

''Finally! Ben's gonna tell us who sent that damn freighter!''

Whoa! Now that's a big-time tease for you! Thanks, Captain Cuse!

You know, wouldn't it be a fiendish twist if we find out that the man behind the freighter is none other than... Ben himself!? That's what reader Tom Champoux thinks. A fan of both Lost and The Usual Suspects, Doc Champoux sent me an e-mail arguing that Ben is pulling a ''Keyser Soze'' — creating a fictitious big bad to further manipulate our heroes and advance his big-picture agenda. ''I think he hired the freighter folk through some Kobayashi butler,'' writes Champoux, whose theory could explain the mysterious identity of Matthew Abbaddon. Regardless, he says, ''I think Ben was being honest when he told Michael at the end of season 2, 'I'm one of the good guys.'''

About the constant stuff:

Yes, I know what formulas are—I have a maters degree in an applied mathematics field. One—every formula does not need to have a constant. For example, X=2 times Y. There—a formula with no constant. Second—what does a constant in a formula have to do with whether or not a person is going insane? Nothing really. I would have preferred if Faraday had a better logical reason for Desmond needing a stabilizer in order to stay sane.

I have no problem with the time travel stuff stated so far. But there has to be more to it in order for the show to “work”.

First, with the currently revealed time travel theory and limitations: consciousness travels rather than any physical body or presence and while the consciousness is “elsewhere”, the body is asleep. If the consciousness gets lost in time, then the body dies. A “constant” is needed to fix the consciousness in time.

What this does not explain though is the missile and watches. Assuming Daniel’s watches were synced on the ship and then 31 minutes apart when the missile arrived on the island, it would imply that the watches were affected by the time travel. But watches don’t have consciousnesses, so the current time travel theory doesn’t cover that instance.

There are many things that could augment the theory, and one big possibility is that the island is able to travel through time materially through some magnetic effect. Maybe the island has a consciousness of its own that the time machine is able to manipulate and take the inhabitants along with it. But this goes into the realm of fantasy rather than sci-fi.

One thing I have always wondered about was the subtle encroachment of the island into the “flashbacks”. Little sound effects from the island would appear—possibly because it wasn’t really a flashback.

But all the speculation is pointless because the writers have not really defined the rules of the world of Lost. Religious, sci-fi, or fantasy descriptions could be their explanations for things like the “ghosts”, the smoke-monster, the pirate ship, the others, the sonic fence, the four-toe statue, or the 108 minutes. Even Ben may not know the whole truth about what is going on with the island. I just hope that the writers are sticking to a cohesive theory or we’ll have all kinds of logical inconsistencies at the end of this.

The LOST Report

My Serious, Logical Thoughts on The Other Woman
Welcome to the other woman.

TITLE
Refers to Juliet since she is the one not married and cheating with Goodwin. We actually have seen them sleeping together in another episode. I think it was Not in Portland.

OPENING SEQUENCE
We did not open with an eye this week. Instead we open with Juliet in a room. Ok, did you fall for it? Come on. How many of you thought that scene was a flashforward scene and Juliet was back on the mainland? I thought so.

GOODWIN IS IMPALED WITH A SPEAR. EXPERTS THINK IT WAS MURDER. FILM AT ELEVEN
Goodwin was murdered by Ben but not directly. He deliberately put Goodwin in a dangerous place and did not recall him so he would get killed. There is a very similar story like this in the bible. It goes like this. Kind David of Israel had an affair with a married woman Bathsheeba while her husband, Uriah, was away at war. King David ordered that Uriah be put on the front lines and then ordered the rest of the men to withdraw so that Uriah would be killed. The plan worked.

THINGS TO WATCH FOR
The Hurley number 15 in the combination of the safe.
Tom has a moustache.
Juliet playing in a Japanese rock garden. Also mentioned in season one of Babylon Five when Jeff meets Delenn in one. Interestingly the actress who played Delenn, Mira Furlan, now plays the French chick.
The Tempest is the station where Charlotte and Faraday go. Tempest means storm and is also a Shakespeare play.
The chemical burn on Goodwin. He lies and says it is an electrical burn. He lies because Ben has him working with chemicals that could kill everyone on the island if he flips the wrong switch. Later we see Charlotte and Faraday deactivate these chemicals.
In therapy when Harper asks Juliet about Ben Harper says of course you look just like her. Who is she talking about? Is this the mom of Ben?
Ben asking if the rabbit he is eating had a number on it. Both the rabbit he used to trick Sawyer and the rabbit in the LOST videos on ABC had a number on them. I believe it was the Hurley number 15 at least on one of the rabbits I saw.

VIVA LA REVOLUTION!
When Ben questions Locke about a revolution against his authority it is just after Claire has asked to see Ben which is something Locke does not want. Her request may be the beginning of the revolution Ben hints at. But how would Ben know this? Do the whispers tell Ben what is going on on the island? Is Ben visited by people who suddenly appear before him and talk to him as the brother of Eko and Walt did?

HARPER
When Harper appears to Juliet in the woods and tells her to kill Charlotte and Faraday I wonder if that is really her. We have seen the island impersonate others before such as Walt and the brother of Eko. When Walt appeared to John he gave him instructions to kill Naomi and stop the phone call. Obviously this was not the real Walt. Also after Harper delivered the message she mysteriously disappears. And notice the whispers again. If this is the real Harper then she indicates that Ben is exactly where he wants to be. This indicates that the people of Ben know where Ben is and that Ben does not want to be rescued. This would make the statement of Ben that if his people wanted me back they would have stormed these barracks by now a lie! It seems that Ben is playing some kind of con game like Sawyer does. Locke needs to be more careful. I am saddened and perplexed at how John falls for this. He is such a long way from the all knowing season one Locke. Where did he go?
Whether it is the real Harper or not the warning she gives to Juliet appears to be a lie since Faraday and Charlotte did not release the gas but made it inert. It would not be the first lie of Ben.

SHE LOVES ME SHE LOVES ME NOT. NOT
In this episode we learn the Ben has a crush on Juliet, but it is more than a crush it is more like an obsession. Ben even commits murder to hang on to her. The clincher was when Ben had Juliet over for a romantic dinner. Also notice that Ben has flowers in his hand when Juliet is brought to her new home. Ben knows full well that Juliet will be staying longer than six months. It was cool to see how they blended scenes from past episodes into this one like A Tale of Two Cities and how we learn the back story of the Goodwin-Juliet affair. I always wondered how Juliet took the news of the death of Goodwin. The big question is if Juliet will get off the island with the Oceanic six. Note that Juliet cannot be one of the six since she was not on the plane.
Jack kisses Juliet and shows no fear of Ben. But we know in the future he still loves Kate as we have seen in a flashforward episode Eggtown. So does that mean things will not work out with Juliet and Jack or will Juliet be killed or forced to stay on the island?

JUST WHEN YOU THINK YOU KNOW
Just when I thought the freighter people were evil, they go and do something like neutralizing the nerve gas of Ben. This means they are well aware of what Ben did to DHARMA. We have long suspected that Widmore knew about the island and now for the first time we finally get confirmation. Although Penny did admit to research on the island in the episode The Constant. But in this episode we see Widmore on tape beating up one of the people of Ben. The tape of Ben is convincing. Also it could be fairly recent since the red sox game was shown to Jack when he was imprisoned at the hydra station. This ties in nicely with the episode The Economist where Elsa was undoubtedly working for Widmore when Sayid shot her.
If Widmore got control of the island then he could actually sell tickets to come visit it and exploit its healing powers. Especially since it is so difficult to get to. This would be unlike Isaac Ursula who gave his healing away for free in the episode S.O.S. Widmore would make a fortune doing this. His advertisement would be something like come see the healing island. Of course he would probably have to take care of that monster first.

THE SPY WHO LOST ME
The spy in the freighter is Michael. Walt is probably also on board.

I’m new to LOST this year although have seen bits and pieces in previous seasons. I’m still trying to learn all the characters. Who is Walt? What happened to the black dude with the son who was taken in Season One?

Go check out previous episodes (and Seasons) on the ABC website, where you can view full episodes. http://abc.go.com/primetime/lost/index?pn=index

Walt is the son of Michael (who is the black dude, you’re asking about). Walt was taken by “the others” in Season 1.

In Season 2, Michael betrayed the Losties to get Walt back and they left the island on a little boat. We haven’t seen them since (except Walt in flashbacks - or so it seems).

Juliette bounced back quickly didn’t she? In lust/love with a married man and within a very short time hot for Jack.

Speaking of Faraday:

Faraday cage From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Faraday cage or Faraday shield is an enclosure formed by conducting material, or by a mesh of such material. Such an enclosure blocks out external static electrical fields. Faraday cages are named after physicist Michael Faraday, who built one in 1836.

An external static electrical field will cause the electrical charges within the conducting material to redistribute themselves so as to cancel the field's effects in the cage's interior. This effect is used, for example, to protect electronic equipment from lightning strikes and other electrostatic discharges.

I thought this show was one of the slowest ones. Nothing was concrete, we get teased about who Ben’s man on the boat is right before a commercial break and then it is never revealed. The people from the boat are bad to good again but don’t even try to get some help from those who would be willing or explain their actions.

Ben’s reasoning for Whidmore’s profit motive is so dumb it’s laughable. If I were Locke I would have thrown him back in the basement.

Michael Faraday is not exactly unknown. He was the one who discovered the link between electricity and magnetism. He invented the electric motor, and paved the way for Maxwell’s Equations which laid the groundwork for Einstein’s Relativity Theory.
